I am staying as strong as possible. One thing that has given me a big boost....I put on my wedding rings today. I have not been able to wear them in a long time. ;) It's the small things that count right now.

I had my surgery on the 11th and today the 14th I am back to work!! The post-op diet isn't all that bad!! I see food everywhere I turn and it takes a lot of will power not pick a chip out of my daughter's hand and eat it, but I just go grab a popcicle and eat that instead!! I get full and the urge to eat anything else goes away!! But hang in there, if I can do it, you can do it!! I have no will power whatsoever, but I am not going through this just to throw it all away!!

I had surgery in Oct 4th. I did a liquid diet for one week prior. I am finishing up my full liquid diet. At 2 wks. I can start 2 wks of puréed food. From everything I have seen we all have to slowly graduate to Whole Foods so we don't tear up our stomach & let it heal well. It's like everything else, we get what we put into it. I think the pain from over doing it will be a great motivator. Best of luck to all of you!

I had my surgery on the 10th as well. Today is the also the day I feel some what normal. I will be on Clear Liquids till Monday... I see my surgeon and NUT for my one week post op.

The best advise I can give is take baby steps and sip all day long if you have to. It has been a physiological struggle for me as well. I had to remind myself constantly why I went through this. So please stay positive

Katoya34, just a suggestion about the Protein. I have been drinking Protein shakes every day & have not had a problem with keeping the grams up. I have been using Six Star whey Protein mix, vanilla flavored. One scoop in some milk gives me 30 grams/ day. I am drinking 2 a day now. Just an idea, of coarse u should check with your nutritionist or doctor if it's not on your list. I buy mine at Walmart.

I had my surgery on the 5th. I felt ok physically, but emotionally I was a mess for a few days. I didn't realize how much i depended on food to take away feelings. When I finally surrendered I felt better. I still get hungry, but I am trying to figure out ways to satisfy my hunger. I'm not going to lie...this,was very hard for me. I'll be off full liquid on Wednesday. Can't wait to have some scrambled eggs and oatmeal

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
