Hi all,

I'm on stage 4 now - slowly making the transition off mushies. So I take several "meals" to work since I never know what my sleeve will like. Tried dried apricots this morning. They went down fine, but now have serious heartburn (I take a PPI and haven't had a problem with heartburn thus far). Anyone know if dried fruit is ok? I'm 4 weeks out.

i don't think fruit with seeds is allowed, my plan doesn't talk about dried fruit but it does say i'm allowed melons. just be careful because it is high in sugars, natural sugar yes but still sugar :)

In very small amounts it should be okay for most people when on soft foods. Dried fruit is very high in calories, carbs, and sugar so you definitely want it to be an occasional thing in small servings (1 prune or 2 apricots = a small serving). But if things are giving you heartburn, definitely step away from them for several weeks and check back later to see if you are tolerating them. 4 weeks out is still very early in the grand scheme of things.

It is early. I had 3 small apricots and it didn't sit well. On to the "try again later" list they go

Thanks. 5 apricots is 100cal, I only ate 3. I need extra calories right now, as odd as it sounds - I'm averaging 40p a day

I looked on my plan and dried fruits are on the "avoid forever" list. I've never been a big fan of dried fruit anyway, so it wasn't really on my radar screen for re-entry like eggs and meat. Interesting.

Hmm. It's so interesting - they aren't on mine. The surgeons are so different.

@blizair09 @rolosmom7 There's on my "no forever" list as well. I believe they also expand in your stomach - so that may be why you feel uncomfortable.

Try to find something with Protein so you are getting a bang for your buck (protein and calories). Have you tried cheese, deli turkey, egg salad, tuna salad, ham salad, seafood salad, Beans, hummus, etc.

Yep - string cheese is my new BFF. Tried a turkey/cheese rollup, didn't go so well. Love hummus - need a good thing to dip because I don't love it from a spoon. Lots of Greek yogurt too.

I'm definitely regretting the dried fruit. Seemed so innocent, wasn't on my "naughty" list. Still trying to stop the slimies. Yuck yuck yuck.

My avoid list consists of chips, cake, Cookies, soda pop, fried foods... Etc. Dried fruits aren't bad per se, but maybe go to Trader Joes or a health food store to find some that do not have any preservatives nor sugar added. Fruits have important nutrients that aren't listed in the "common" vitamins/minerals list that are vital for health and maintenance such as antioxidants... Etc. It's better to eat fresh fruit vs dried, but I'm sure you already know that. :)

Yep. Dried apricots from TJs. They were in the pantry, and portable. 100cal for 5 seemed like an ok snack (can't eat enough yet for fresh fruit, half of it goes bad - unfortunately). But. They definitely didn't feel nice in my tummy. So I'll put them on hold for awhile. [emoji4]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
