Did they weigh you on surgery day?

Recommended Posts

Mermaidpuppy, welcome to Lap bandland!!!! I was weighted when I went in for surgery. Don't be nervous, you still have today and tomoorw to walk and cut back on your food. Are you on a liquid diet+a salad?

If they do weigh you (they weighed me) it's probably more for the anesthesia (sp?) than a way to get out of doing the surgery...if you're up a couple of pounds they probably won't even notice. My doc didn't notice that I had lost like 13 pounds on my liquid diet...if he had, he never noticed it.

Weird- I have always been weight before surgery for the good meds team (I don't know how to spell anithesiologist?)! I have always done ok because you have to stop food at midnight and liquids 6 hours before so I always feel light. Since I can only do liquids the day before that should help too!

I had to sign a document stating that if I gained weight between my final appointment and the day of surgery, the doctor had the right to postpone or cancel the surgery. They reiterated this several times. However, I only have to do liquids for 1 day, so I think it's to make sure you don't have a 2-week Farewell to food tour...

Yup when they took me into the presurgery holding area they weighed me and I was down about 14 pounds from the liquid preop.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
