I hate these vitamins

Recommended Posts

I had surgery about two weeks ago, and I reallyyyy hate these chewable vitamins from Bariatric Advantage. They are enormous, they stink, and I have to take two of them every morning. Even just thinking of them makes me want to gag.

I spoke to my nutritionist about it last week, and asked about the Patches, but she said she's not a fan. I'm going to talk to her about other options because I know I need to be taking them, but I just can't. Anyone feel the same way? Tips for getting them down?

Many people have had success with the Patches. And, for those of us who have had WLS, they are much easier than trying to swallow or chew large pills. Have you looked at the Patches we offer in our store?

The best way to determine if they are effective for you is by having blood work.

I had asked my nutritionist at my appointment last week, but she said there was a debate amongst the staff in my program over whether these were truly effective. I would much rather have the patch, believe me.

I had bought a big old bottle of bariatric chewables right before surgery. hated them. HATED them. ate them anyway. because I am not going to waste that kind of money, lol.

but I had to split them into 1/4ths and have them with apple sauce or pudding or something. I took one in the morning, one in the evening and when they were gone I went back to my regular ladies one a day pill.

the practice I use does not recommend the Patches.

I've taken Trader Joe's High Potency chewable Multi's for 3+ years since surgery. They are small and have a very mild taste. For the first six months or so I took 2 per day (1 in the morning, 1 at night). Since then, 1 per day. My labs have always been terrific, and I do get them drawn and tested regularly. They are also:

--cheaper (BY A LOT) than specialty bariatric Vitamins

--lower calorie than specialty bariatric vitamins

--lower carb than specialty bariatric vitamins

No way, no how, not ever am I going to throw my money away on specialty bariatric vitamins. IMO they are a scam and a racket.

Yeah, those giant chewable ones are pretty nasty. Everyone I've seen who have been on the Patches have had great labs so far.

I actually got away from the chewables about a year ago and am now taking good ol' pre natal Vitamins, lol. They're working great for me. Labs (except for Vitamin D, but I'm always deficient and have to take 50,000 IU's) are awesome.

That's really helpful. I'm going to have to give them a try. Thanks for the tip!

I take Walmart brand Gummy multi Vitamins. Doc said that he has no issues with me taking them because my labs are fine and have been since surgery. They taste just like fruit Snacks.

I looked at those yesterday but it did not have enough Calcium, Iron or B12. Are you taking any other supplements?

Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

Those look amazing. How do you supplement the missing B12 and Iron?

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
