Take the Challenge is a 6 month project that began in May with a kick off event for womens health. They began at PG Community College and have now broken off into to groups that meet on Monday or Thursday. I attend the one that meets on Thursday. The give information on nutrition, cooking, physical activity, and meal planning discussions. 202-547-5447 I don't know that name of the building but they call it the Womens Resource Center on Allentown Road, 3 blocks away from Branch Avenue.

Tonight I am going to TOPS. You can look them up on line. They are a weight loss support group for any and everyone. The are $20 a year membership fee and my group is $3 a month.

Hello :-)

This is my first post..... I just scheduled my surgery for next Thursday with Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey. I am in the Hagerstown, MD area....but am regularly in the Frederick and Columbia area's. Just wanted to say hi :-)

Have a great day!

Hi Amy

I had surgery on July 8 and I am thrilled. I have lost 29 pounds so far. Be sure to drink your Water and have Protein shakes at home. I like Atkins Advantage vanilla shake. Be sure to get some chewable Gas X, it really helps. You will have lots of gas that won't be really easy to come out.

Hello my lovelies!!!!! I just found this site, and I am from Maryland (Columbia area)! I just was banded July 14th in Mexico, so I am fairly new to this journey! I would love to have a group to talk to and consult about things....such as I am already able to eat pasta and I don't know why....am I a fast healer??? I know I should still be on liquids, but I am HUNGRY! And I tolerate it well. How much did y'all lose in the first couple weeks? I lost 5 lbs. the first week, and now in my second week I have been eating much more, but I also started exercising. We'll see how it goes....how did y'all get the pound countdown thingy on the bottom of your messages? I love it! I was 243 lbs. the day before surgery, and now I weigh about 237 - I haven't weighed in for this week yet, I'm scared.:) Anyway, great to know there are people in the area!!!! Who do you go to for fills? I need a fill doctor asap...I'm counting down to August 25th (when I can get my 1st)

Carrie :cheeky

Carrie - yea! You are in Columbia!!! I wish I could call you! I am going to Monterrey....tonight! Did you go to Dr. Rumbaut?????? I am in Columbia alot!

Kat.... so glad to meet you too :-) Annapolis is not far from Columbia!

I will be checking for a while to see if one of you gets this message tonight...

Thanks!

Amy

Hi and welcome new MD bandsters. I live in Oxon Hill, MD. I was banded July 8 and enjoying the benefits. I lost 8 pounds in the first week.

Carrie- Yes you can eat Pasta but you are not suppose to be eating it now. You should do 2 weeks of liquids and then pureed foods. You have to be sure to get enough Protein and Water. Taking your chewable Fiber pills and Calcium pills should also help with the hunger. Also, I would eat low carb or no sugar pudding and yogurts. The help replace the food well. You know what you goals are and you had the surgery for a reason. BE THE BEST YOU!!!!

As for the ticker, go to Ticker Factory. You have to copy it in once you create it. It does not automatically change, you have to update it.

My doctor told me I would probably need a fill in 7 weeks.

Congratulations Oh Happy Day, see you when you return.

Welcome Carrie and Kat,

Yes, my doctor does fills in his office. His name is Dr. Jason Brodsky. He is located at 24th & M sts. N.W. His number is 202-331-1234. Good luck to the both of you.

Carrie -- dont cheat your band. Remember thats not why you got this done. Make sure you drink your liquids.

Thanks for giving me a kick in the butt!!! I didn't spend all this $$$ for nothing!!! Any ideas on foods for liqud/mushy stages? I have had water, Crystal light, lowfat chocolate milk, chicken broth, cream of crab soup (no chunks)..I just bought some sugar free pudding and jello...what is the most important, low fat, low calorie, or low carb?? All of the above???

Carrie,

You list is looking good. Also make sure you get your Protein in so things like a Protein shake, tuna fish is good but make it with a lot of lowfat mayo so its not dry and wont get stuck. Soups are good and you can put them in a blender. eggs at this point are good for you. Scrambled with cheese, yummy. And eggsalad is good too. I hope this helps you. I dont mean to come off on you hard but sometimes we need a reminder why we even did this. I still do at times too.

Carrie I am drinking lots of Water but I do the crystal light also. Gatorade, Powerade, light grap juice, potato soup from Safeway signature soups, low sugar yogurt and cool whip. sugar free, low carb is what you want.

Go for it Carrie.

Tanya those are good ideas, I forgot all about eggs and eggsalad. How are you doing? How did the fill go? As you can see I am still losing and doing well. I pb'd once and that was enough to scare me straight. I am still going to TOPS and the Take the Challenge. Tomorrow night instead of the usual meeting we are meeting at the Safeway in Clinton to tour with a nutrisionist to lear about lables.
