September Sleevers!

Hello all,

I wanted to make a separate thread for all of the September sleevers to post updates and share tips. Of course any and everybody is welcome!

I am 13 days post op and feeling great. Still on liquids, so my diet is mostly Water and Protein shakes. I'm not feeling hungry at all, and "head hunger" only lasted a few days. Tonight was the first night I have seen my close friends since surgery and everyone was betting on how much I've lost. It made me feel good and gave me a spring in my step. I haven't weighed myself and I'm waiting to see how much I've lost since surgery for my first post op visit on Monday. I can't wait to see who was closest.

The only downside is I've developed a cold. It's irritating but I'm managing. All of the coughing has me a little concerned that I will pop a staple or something. I spoke to my surgeons PA and she was not concerned about that occurring. I'm on the upswing and expect the cold to be out of my system in a day or so.

How is everyone else doing? I hope everyone is healing and resting.

  • So ingot chopped on the 14th. I've been averaging 85oz of liquids and 75g of Protein via shakes. I've also been walking in chunks around the neighborhood and find myself racking up about 2 miles a day

  • I had my gastric sleeve on 9-8-16..today makes two months for me. The beginning was rough because I developed a strangulated hernia and had to have a second surgery a week later but all in all I'm doi

I drank them too, now i cant tolerate them....i was able to keep the pre-made one down...i have no idea what happened

What brand are you using? I would suggest ones from PEscience.com , and if you use the code HANA you get 20% off. They are amazing and even have a new cafe line if you like coffee. I would recommend the chocolate cupcake or cookies and cream. I'm using the peanut butter cup now and it tastes like a Reese's.

Another tip is to put them in the freezer after mixing for like 15-30 minutes. I don't know why but it changes the flavor and texture somewhat. I had to do that with a brand I did not like.

Im using Pure Protein

My sleeve was done 9/13/16. I've been doing well aside from getting a cold 2 weeks after surgery. That's finally over! I hate hate hate that I get constipated from not eating a balanced diet. Can't wait for fruit and vegetables to be added!

I've realized today that I'm starting to feel anger towards all sorts of things and people for no reason. Must be the loss of food coming out in anger.

I'm tired often, break out in a cold sweat once or twice a day, and I'm cold often. I'm glad I did it and I. I'm making progress.

I'm able to drink way more than I was expecting to. So a majority of my intake is protein shakes, milk, etc. That alone should help. Are you not able to get in liquids either?

No liquids are fine. Protein shakes are just gross, and I can only do about 1/day

I like the chocolate Premier Protein...i need to get some

I like the vanilla, I add cinnamon and a drop of vanilla extract and serve over ice. Hmmm....almost like a milk shake, blended with fresh berries is great too!.

Had my 2 week yesterday and I am officially cleared for purees! Woohoo! Officially down 36# since pre-op diet and 22# since sleeve date 09/29. I too, am able to drink a lot of liquids but Doc told me not to worry about it, that I was doing fine.

Had my first lunch out with the boys, and ordered a black bean burger, no bun, with a side of avocado and sliced tomato. Mushed it all up with a cilantro lime sauce and it was freakin' heaven. Ate slowly and only finished about half of it. Its not that I was full, but didn't want to push it and I felt satisfied. I wish I would have taken home the other half because with the 2 mile total walk there and back from the bar, I was ready to finish it by the time I got back to the office.

So far I'm not really missing food, I am missing beer though :( . Maybe one day.

All if all I feel great!

A really good mushy recipe for me was Shelly's pot roast with mashed potatoes - it makes a TON but your family can eat it. I added mushrooms. Tossed in the blender, a few tbsp of potatoes and a few tbsp of meat. Best mushy recipe for me!

@@migalo Two awesome days for me were the days I was allowed pureed (freedom!!) and the day I was cleared for any type of food with no restrictions (Day 39 for me). Congratz!!

Yup, I see what you mean, the next thing I am lookign forward to is being able to sample my BBQ. I am a big smoker of meats. Everyday, I feel a little more and more normal, just smaller and I eat a whole lot less.

It really sucks that some of your guys can eat potatoes...i truly envy you...being on a very low carb diet, i can't have any pasta, rice, potatoes (white or sweet), or anything like that...????????????????
