Hormone therapy for everyone!!!

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Rampant hormones happens with rapid weight loss.

I think too much estrogen is flowing instead of testosterone in me right now. I feel like watching the Oxygen Network and crying. :)

Well, since I don't know if you're a man or woman, that could go either way...lmao

Why? I WANT advice from someone who has lost 243 pounds! Seems to me you would know what you're talking about more than most.

I actually didn't see the original post. If it was snarky, I want to see that, too ;)

@@Babbs - "Complex carbs are utterly different than simple carbs. That being said, bananas have a fair amount of carbs and sugar, and so should be consumed in moderation (ideally). Why did this discussion, like so many others, turn into a cesspool of bitchy, cranky people being mean to each other?! :/ I love this place and I love you guys but do you ever wonder if it's the newbies driving you away or you guys driving yourselves away? I get that we're all cranky from lack of chocolate (and Snickers?) but man! Lighten up! :)"

that's a little more confronting than I'm normally comfortable with, so I deleted it. But since you asked... :P

@@OutsideMatchInside,

Thanks for the info on bananas and for raising this discussion! Definitely bananas are not a low-carb food! I don’t think I would equate bananas with Oreos given the differences in potassium, sodium, Fiber, and Vitamins. Certainly for a single day if you are trying to balance your calories, you could choose two Oreos or a banana interchangeably.

Day in and day out, though, I don’t see being able to justify (from a health or weight loss perspective) choosing a banana over Oreos and their refined grains, salt, and high fructose corn Syrup, not to mention losing out on the possible benefits of the resistant starch found in bananas, which possibly could help with growing good bacteria in the gut.

Thanks for the list of various fruits and their net carb content! It can definitely be helpful to have a quick list of possible fruits to choose if you’re looking for a snack and only have a few calories to spend. A cup of strawberries can certainly be more filling than a half a banana for the same number of calories.

Strawberries and Water work the best for that fresh scent, lol

Does that knowledge come from experience? I always thought the old adage was pineapple and watermelon! I've been drinking....watermelon.

It is pineapple, but pineapple is like eating candy, so that is off the table (for me anyway). Really just getting enough fluids, it doesn't even have to be Water, just fluids, coffee and tea work, but being well hydrated and flushing your system counts for more than what you eat. Still you can never go wrong with strawberries.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
