Any October 2016 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Had surgery October 19th. Saw doctor today and since October 5th, my total weight loss was only 11 lbs. I'm disappointed to say the least. I've been very hungry, bit today that feeling has abated. I'm on leave from work until year end, so fatigue has not been a concern. Tomorrow, I will take a walk at the gym or outside. I think my loss is low because I'm laying around watching TV. I also picked up some high Protein Soups to ease my salt cravings. I find the high protein SlimFast pleasant-tasting. Sometimes I add the sugar-free Torani classic Carmel Syrup for a change. Would like to hear from anyone who has started exercising and at what date post-op they began.

You can not judge weight loss this soon out. You are still dealing with the fluids and swelling from surgery. Don't be disappointed - .we typically gain after surgery. I was done on the 18th and only weighed because had my follow up appointment with the surgeon. I'm not even counting this weight. Be sure you are getting at least 64ozs of Fluid and work on getting enough protein if you aren't already. Stick with the plan. Be sure the shakes are low sugar and high protein. Good luck!

Kristen, Thank you for your encouraging email. I am not drinking 64 oz of Water, but will now. I believe that I am doing fine with Protein, but have to cut out extra salt. Congrats and encouragement to my fellow sleepers. Lila

October 17th!! Hv been a little nauseated the past 2 days. Tough to eat or drink. But making sure to get my Protein in and trying so hard to get my 64 oz of Fluid

Be sure to concentrate on fluids first - right now that's most important. Ask your Dr about something for the nausea if you're not already taking anything.

@@lowbmi65 Thank you! I'm "you know whatting" a pickle right now. Halloween is my day. I'm so worried about this surgery because I have had a few bouts of Laryngospasm. It began after the removal of my thyroid. If it happens during surgery and they cannot break it, my surgeon told me the worst case scenario is a tracheotomy.

Okay, now It's all real. Just got "the call" from the hosp telling me what time to be there and all of the specifics that go along with that.

Someone who's had this done already.. please tell me, how did you feel when you first woke up?

I was disoriented at first; in fact, I didn't even know where I was right away, but that cleared up pretty fast, and my family was with me in fairly short order.

I was crying in pain. Your hospital might tell you there is nothing you can do about the gas they fill you up with but that is a lie. You will still go home with bad gas pains if your anything like me but go to cvs and get phayzme. Take it and walk walk walk

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
