@@Ruby81 Try posting in the post op forum - you may get more replies. Also - if you're in the UK - things seem to be very different with post-op diets. Many of us here in the States aren't "allowed" fruit. Our diets focus a lot on Protein and I believe that's not the case there. There's also a UK forum. Congrats on your surgery!

I personally cannot have any fruit till the mushy stage (3 weeks for me) and no fruit juice. It is limited to about 2 bites. Each nut. And doc have their own program so hopefully they can help you. I know I can message my nut. Whenever I want. Sorry I am not much help. Good luck.

Were you provided with a written lost-op food plan?

I have a whole folder of various things. I went to required numerous classes also. I have a page of example mesls for the stage of diet that I am on. Such as full liquid...mushy...then somewhat regular diet with restrictions. I cant have grains, Pasta, bread until i have lost 75% of my projected weight loss. Not many gray areas with my doctor. I like how it is layed out and leaves me few questions. They are very helpful to their patients.

Yes i do have post op meal plan. Pretty much 4 times a day 4 ounces of Protein drink mixed with skim or 1% milk. 2 broth or sodium 4 oz daily. Must get 64 ounces of liquid in each day. I can have pureed chilli or bean or pea Soup for the sodium. I do thid for 3 weeks. Then on to mushy getting in my required Protein daily for 3 weeks. I have charts marking off all those things that need returned to the doctor for the 6 weeks.

Did you talk with your nutritionist (abbreviated as NUT on this site) or dietician? On my program I was on Clear liquids for 2.5 weeks after my surgery. No fruit juices and had to even dilute sugar free non-carbonated beverages. My surgical team said it was to allow my stomach to heal. But different surgeons have different instructions so check with your team.

Hi Ruby, I am in the UK and had my surgery recently on the NHS. I posted some scans of my food stages on a previous thread which you can see here http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/372970-sleeve-soon/page-2

However it's important to remember that you need to follow the plan that you would have been given as you might have different requirements to anyone else. Did your bariatric team give you a booklet like this?

I choose not to drink my calories unless it's a Protein drink. fruit is ok later on, but whole fruit, not juice, so you get the benefits of the Fiber, too.

Strawberries were out for me for 6 months. Those little seeds can work their way into your staple line and cause issues.

Talk to your doctor, I'm only telling you of MY experience.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
