I start the liquid diet tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm more stressed for the surgery, or more from trying to lose the pre surgery weight. I dont have the blood sugar issues, but just had my preop physical and my GP said my heart murmer sounded different so now I have to go for an echo and ultrasound. Praying its nothing.

I'm 7/27, but close enough!

My EKG came back as "borderline" so I will be having a second one later on this week. Not sure what this means, but hoping its nothing... Doctor didn't seem too concerned so trying not to focus on it!

Seems like I'm one of the few that doesn't have a liquid diet pre-op. Starting this Wednesday I will be on a week of low/no carbs. and drinking a box of Impact Recovery drink a day.

I need to keep reminding myself that while this is major surgery, the complication rate is VERY low. I have anxiety and my mind is playing tricks on me. Scared I'm going to die under anesthesia....

I'm not thrilled about anesthesia either! I talked to the nurse and she said I'll get something to relax me put in the iv so I won't panic in the operating room.

Rocshae, how is your preop diet going?

Going really well so far, I started the 12th so I have 8 more days to go! I am struggling to get my Water in(any suggestions would be awesome) but I really like my Protein shakes so I really haven't been hungry. I do notice all the food advertisements more which makes me a little emotional but, I know that I'm better off following the path I'm on. Good luck to everyone we are getting really close now.

One trick I've used to get Water in is i bought a glass 64 oz pitcher and fill it in the morning. I dont mind room temp water so I keep mine on kitchen counter where i can see it regularly. Then I try to drink it all b4 bedtime. Another is I bought a 32 oz drinking bottle for when Im away from home. I know I just have to drink two of those for the day.

I also quit caffeine, which is a huge deal for me. The headaches and exhaustion has really been hard to deal with. Dealing with ending both at once has been very emotionally difficult, but I am ready. Just a little more snappy and emotional. I have to get used to people eating food around me that I can't have (like my friends and boyfriend eating burgers yesterday was brutal  ) but I keep telling myself "this too shall pass". And it will. And in the end, these very MINOR tragedies will be but a distant memory. Although in the meantime, I am allowing myself to pout as much as I need.

I feel for you with quitting all at once. My NUT had me quit caffeine a few months ago. Good luck, hopefully it will get easier soon!

Mine is the 27th (which is awfully close) and lemme tell you...this liquid diet is TERRIBLE. The first day was hands down the worst. On day 3 now of a two week liquid diet. I was dreading this almost as much as surgery itself. I think the liquids after surgery will be way easier.

Trust me, it will get so much easier after the 3rd day. I'm on a 3 week one and.have 8 days left till surgery. I just walked, and slept alot.. drank Water with lemon and mint and it helped too. I wish you all the best of luck!

Day 1 of liquid diet down! Wasn't bad. I'm a little hungry now and hoping I can get to sleep, but was pretty comfortable all day. Kept myself busy which helped. Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow, and also for those having tests done.

Good job everyone and good luck to all those going for pre-op stuff this week. I'm starting to get my stuff together for after surgery, maybe we could share our lists? I will work on posting mine today.

I am on day 7 of my 2 week liquid diet. I wish I had all the options that some people seem to have. I am only allowed New Direction products 4 times a day, so I am living on their chocolate Protein shakes and their Soup. They all taste pretty bad at this point and I am ready to be done and on to the next phase of my journey.

Can you have sugar free crystal light? That really helps me get all my Water in.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
