3 days post op... Can't be on my back any more!

I've been burping but haven't farted yet:(

So sick of sleeping on my back it's causing me more pain than the incisions and everything else. Would it be ok to sleep on my side? Or at least flat on on my back and not elevated?

Before I left the hospital the RN was adamant that I sleep on my back and remain elevated so that any gas or heartburn will be relieved. Anyone post op have any advice?

Thanks in advance

Get yourself a Velcro body wrap to put around your abdomen, helps support your stomach and allowed me to sleep on my sides.

I also struggled with sleeping on my back. I wish I had gotten a compression wrap, but I didn't think of that option at the time. The only way I was able to sleep for the first week after surgery was in a recliner chair. It wasn't the best sleep, but it was the only option that kept me from rolling onto my side or stomach. Good luck to you!
