Had surgery 7/6/16

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve on the 6th! I am on liquids but they do not have to be clear. The gas bubbles are annoying but seem to be better. I feel the liquid going down, and it actually hurts right at the center of my chest/bra line, does anyone else have this? I am down 10 pounds since surgery. It hurts to laugh still but holding a pillow while coughing helps. Congrats to all of you! I'm excited to have found this ap and my sleeve buddies on the 5th and 6th!

The gas bubbles were ridiculous so I doubled up on antacid meds that helped majorly. I also had a problem with my breast being so heavy so I keep a pillow against my chest lifting them up for now. Are you taking small sips?

Yes I am taking small sips, I learned exactly how small after taking too many "large" sips! I have found the same with my breasts being heavy. I am sure as I heal that will ease. The pain is on the inside when I swallow but my dr assures me it will get better as I heal more!

Had mine on 7/5 and besides still having a pain in my right side by my big incision i am feeling great. I have lost a total of 15 lbs and the scale goes down 1 to 2 lbs per day. I am drinking 3 ozs every two hours and I am walking 2 miles a day. I cannot be more excited with this journey I have undertaken. Good luck to you all.

Wow you're walking that far! Good for you...my doctor said not to go anywhere near that until he says so. Keep up the good work!

Don't want to risk blood clots. I had my procedure done at an outpatient facility and only received 1 shot before surgery for them. The walking really helps with the pain in my stomach and help releases gas.

Wow you only got one blood thinner shot? How long did you stay in hospital? I was in the hospital for two days and they made me drink on the last day or they weren't going to release I got that bloo thinner shot at least 5 times.

I went in at 530am, had my hernia repaired and then sleeved at 7am and was back at my hotel by 2pm. I stayed overnight at a hotel because I leaved 2.5 hours from outpatient facility. My first movement was getting dressed and getting into the wheelchair to go to the car. Not complaining as this was the only way for my insurance would pay. Hence the reason I am walking so much and loving it. Hoping to increase to three miles next week. I am 1 week post-op today.

So I just had the sleeve and let me tell you I was a cranky woman in the hospital and first day home. The bubbling is so annoying but a friend told me to double up on antacid meds and that really helped. I find myself peeing quite often during the night as if I needed another reason to not be able to sleep. I'm so scared to cough, burp or laugh. Also I can't tell if I'm having hunger pains or what but this liquid thing is so boring I cannot wait to puree. I'm just really anxious to get back to normal even though I know that's a mile away...thank God for my fiance cause his encouragement helps me tremendously.

I was also sleeved the 6th! I spent 2 nights in the hospital. In the mornings I take my omeprazole with "breakfast" (8 oz Fairlife chocolate milk) and do my Lovenox injection. Then I have 8 oz Water followed by "lunch" (Syntrax nectar fruit Protein packet mixed in 12 oz Water with ice cubes). After that I have more water or tea. "Dinner" is Unjury's chicken broth Protein powder mixed into a strained Soup. After dinner I'll have more water and/or tea. I'm on full liquids, but everything has to be thin enough to go through a juice pulp strainer my clinic gave me. I can't wait to be able to have thicker soups! I love thick Soups. It's a little boring, but it gets me over 50 oz of Protein and over 64 oz of water each day.

For gas I've been using a Gas-X strip. I hope I'm less gassy now that I've finally had my first bm today. Walking helps with the pain, as does a belly binder. When I need to sneeze, I hold a pillow against my left (more painful) side. I've been taking liquid Benadryl and liquid Allegra at bedtime to help with my allergies and sneezing, too. It's helped a treat!

Best luck to my surgery twins and neighbors!

Hey! Today marks a week for me and it was the least painful so far. I find I'm struggling with textures, yogurt and Protein shakes especially. I did break down and eat cottage cheese and that and chicken broth with Protein Powder has saved me! Hope your feeling well as tomorrow is a week for you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
