Today marks 4 weeks post op it has been a roller coaster of emotions, but over all I am SO happy! I can already see a huge difference in my self confidence. I feel great! There are moments when I miss comfort food and start to feel sorry for myself, but I just try to remind myself of my ultimate goal; to be healthy and that junk food isn't worth it!

I've gotten sick twice (thrown up), I think from eating too fast, or too much. I'm still learning how much my stomach can handle, how slow to chew/swallow and everything. I'm super nervous about my first dumping, I know it will happen eventually... I just hope it isn't as bad as I'm expecting and that I'm not out in public and poop my pants or something

Here is my pre op diet pic (wt 233) night before surgery (221.7) and today-4 weeks post op 201.7) down 20 lbs since surgery. post-290419-14678681893999_thumb.jpgI can really tell a difference in my face! Every time I look in the mirror now I do a double take. And I don't avoid mirrors anymore!

You may not ever experience dumping as I haven't so far at 6 months, but I have frothed and thrown up ....charming I know!

I too at times have mourned food, although as you mentioned about increased confidence, the confidence I feel now overwhelming beats missing out on certain foods.

Your progress is fantastic at 4 weeks and I love your attitude!

@@WannabeH I love your description of the 'frothing' ... I haven't ever experienced dumping, but I'm sure no stranger to the frothy experience!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
