I am glad to hear your surgery went well and you're doing well. I will be joining you on the other side tomorrow. lol keep us posted. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Good luck today!! You're gonna do amazing! Recovery has been a process but it's all worth it in the end!

Well I had my surgery today at 7:30. The doctor said it went amazing and I'm telling you the pain is barely existent. I started drinking Clear Liquids around 4 o'clock today and I've been walking a lot which definitely helps with the pain. The only downfall is how extremely dry and mouth is been LOL. I guess it's a small price to pay

September 19 is my surgery date and I am so nervous that I can not sleep. I am ready for this change in my life cause I have three very active young girls to keep up with but I believe because this is my first surgery ever is why I am so nervous. I put on some weight right before my pre-op diet but now that I am "dieting" it is coming off slowly. Congrats to you for taking this step to make your life better and excited to be a friend during our looser path LOVE IT!

Hey everyone I am day 1 post op. In a lot of pain but was expected anyway. I am doing well up and about and being discharged today. Learning how to eat and drink differently from the dieticians meeting. Had Soup today only few mouthfuls and was full. Cannot wait to see how different I look in a few months.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and others really appreciate it.

I know you'll be fine. Just keep your focus and understand how much easier it makes it for your surgeon to do their tasks. I'm on day 12 of the 2-week liquid diet and find that it is fine for me, although it amazes my wife. A steady pattern of Premier Protein, 8 oz of apple juice, sugar-free Gelatin, sugar-free popsicles, Crystal Light, Green Tea and Decaf coffee. I've found it very helpful to create an input form on Google Docs that automatically populates to a Google Spreadsheet to record all calorie and Protein information. It is simple to set-up and can be used to monitor your progress and intake from beginning throughout the months and years to come.

Hiya

It is hard first 3 days are the worst then you just get over it and do it. I was soo focused and dedicated to dropping the most amount of weight. I lost 15lbs on the pre op diet. And I had my surgery 2 days ago RNY Bypass i am Very very sore and in so much pain but the pre op diet helps you wean off food so you can tolerate small amounts. I don't even get hungry anymore so keep going and keep your eyes on the prize. Good luck

I'm on day 4 of my 2 week liquid diet. It is getting easier. Only time I really struggle is when my family eats while I am home. I just go in another room. I work at Dunkin Donuts. I just keep busy and keep at bottle of Water with me and sip sip sip. Keeps me from picking at the Donuts. We got this!

Hello! I am on day 7 of 2 week liquid diet. Surgery scheduled for Sept 27.

I am having an oddly easy time of this. My shakes etc are from BetterMD and taste great. (My clinic reqires the use of BetterMD kit).

Paranoid, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop lol

I am reqired to have 5 Shakes/smoothies/soups per day, all made with skim milk, plus one broth that is a Fiber supplement. I may also have 2 cups of raw veggies, selected from a very short list.

I make most of my shakes with frozen milk, so they are like icecream and really very good. I doctor up the Soups and broths with approved herbs and spices.

My Husband thinks its funny i spend nearly as much time fiddling with them as i would regular cooking! (He exagerates lol)

I am 75% fine 20% nervously excited 5% randomly scared throughout the day.

How's everyone else doing today?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
