How many incisions did you end up with?

Recommended Posts

I had 4...one of those was inside my belly button.....the other three were tiny! In fact I can't even find those now and it's only been 6 weeks. My surgeon used what he called micro instruments....so I guess they were really small.

I have 4 new scars, the 5th incision he re-used an old scar. So I was pleased. The new ones look like butterflies. (They used staples)

5. 4 across midsection and one up higher.

This is exactly what I ended up with as well. And yes, they definitely itch and are very sensitive to touch. That really is nothing though in comparison to the gas pain.

Six which I didn't know how many I'd have so I had no idea what to expect beyond that there'd be multiple incisions.

I thought i had 6 until i lifted up my left boob and discovered cut #7. My tummy looks like a map of the stars. I also previously had lapro gallbladder removal.

I also had my gallbladder removed before. So I also have those scars on top of these new ones.

Yep, me too, 4 across the middle and one up almost in between my boobs :) They're all healed up but the scars are DARK, really surprised me. Hope they fade in time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
