Hi everyone. I have my initial consultation with the surgeon on Wed June 29th. How long after the initial consultation do you have the surgery?

It will depend on a few things. Your insurance may have requirements for you to do a supervised weight loss program prior to approving surgery. In addition, you usually need a nutritionist visit and Psych Eval. Once met all requirements - they will submit for approval. Then start scheduling pre-op testing. That may include a sleep study, cardiac clearance, GI series, blood work, etc. I have to also attend two support groups. It can take anywhere from 2-9 months usually. If self pay - it might be quicker. Call your insurance to find out the requirements before your appointment. Good luck.
