Surgery date 8/1/16!

Recommended Posts

I just got an email from my surgeons office that 8/1/16 is my surgery date if I want it. Heck yeah! I'll take it.

I'm waiting on official confirmation but it looks like I have date.

6 weeks before the pre op diet starts.

I'm excited.

How did your surgery go? I had a pretty bad reaction to the anesthesia and was miserable but am feeling a bit better today.

Hey @ Diamndgrl @ L. Knight Surgery went well. Very little pain. I always wake up a little out of it from anesthesia. I start the soft food stage today. I'm getting in my liquids. Protein has been a struggle since I'm lactose intolerant now. I think I will try an Isopure Protein Drink. Weight loss is averaging 3-5 lbs. a week.

Congrats on your successful surgery and continued weight loss!! I had my band to bypass revision done on 8/1/16 as well and have I've lost 17 lbs so far. I've been struggling a bit to get in all of my Water but I'm getting there. I'm still on puréed foods and actually start soft foods on Monday and I can't wait! Good luck as you continue on your journey.

Thank you @Wax_Poetic. Excellent work dropping 17 lbs. so far. I found out adding Crystal Lite can help increase Water consumption.

How long til you guys were moved to puréed foods? I'm 10 days out and really want something besides a Protein shake!

@@Diamndgrl I was on full liquids for one week following my hospital stay. After that I was on puréed foods for 2 weeks. I was like you and couldn't wait to eat other foods but it gets old fast (at least it did for me). I ended up eating a lot of puréed fruits and Soups. I am on day 21 post op and finally moving on to soft foods!! I ate a scrambled egg with picante sauce this morning and it was heavenly! Lol

Oh my goodness an egg sounds heavenly!!!! I just met a friend for lunch and had Tomato soup.....again????. I'm sooooo sick of soup! I have my follow up on Wednesday and will hopefully get moved to puréed foods then. I'm craving refried beans!

@@Wax_Poetic how is your weight loss going? I'm only 6lbs down from surgery and I've followed directions to a T. Mine just seems a little slow.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
