Hard Boiled Eggs

Recommended Posts

I bake my bacon, too.

I alllllllways bake my bacon. SO perfect!

And it doesn't splash grease everywhere.

I bake my bacon too! I put the cooked bacon in the fridge and reheat it a piece at a time in the microwave. So much easier.

You know what else is good (and similar)? I buy country ham at the deli and ask for it in thin slices. (I do ask them to show it to me first so I don't get a ham that is too fatty/stringy.)

Put a slice on a paper towel and zap it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. It crisps up like bacon and is almost as delicious and MUCH easier/faster. YUM.

I found the precooked/peeled eggs at the store last night and bought some. I didn't think they were too expensive and definitely convenient.

I buy them at the grocery store... no peeling needed.

You can buy perfect hard boiled eggs at the store now. I do mean perfect. Bright yellow yolks.

I don't know why but I can't bring myself to buy the precooked eggs. I know that they are fine but they just don't look right to me. I boil my own eggs, peel them, and take them to work. So, there isn't any difference. Oh well, I haven't been able to figure out why I have a problem with the store bought eggs.

Can anyone tell me how long it took for you to be able to eat boiled eggs after surgery? I usually boil my eggs and then place them in cold Water to peel them. Sometimes this works perfectly, however if you boil them too long, the peelings still stick.

Poach them. Add a little bit of vinegar it the Water before putting the eggs in. As soon as the water starts to boil reduce the heat and voila best poached eggs ever! Dry them on a paper towel and enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback. I am 8 weeks out, so I may try a boiled egg now and see if it works.

I put vinegar and a little baking soda in the Water when I cook them. I also put in food coloring so it's easier to tell hard boiled from uncooked.

I received a tip from someone to put baking soda (1 teaspoon) in the Water while boiling, I tried it, it did help with easier peeling. it's worth a try.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
