Banded in Mexico, Living in New Jersey?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to be banded by Dr. Arturo Rodriguez in Mexico next month, and I am trying to find doctors that will conduct the aftercare and fills in New Jersey when I return. To all you Jerseyans out there, who are you going to to handle your fills and aftercare? I would like to have the doctors or fill centers lined up before I do the surgery. I understand it can be difficult to find US doctors to do fills on patients who had their band done in Mexico.

I live in Somerset Cty, but am willing to travel throughout the state. Do you know of any places in Jersey?

Where in NJ are you ?

Hi - I am going to Mexico to have my surgery on 8/28 (Dr. Ortiz) I'm planning to have my fills in Southern New Jersey - there is a fill center in Mount Laurel (look up fillcenter.com) -- it's about 10 miles from Philly. If you're in Northern NJ a few good fill doctors are mentioned somewhere here in Manhattan who will take Mexico patients.

Toni, sorry I don't know of any doctors that will take you but thats not to say there aren't any. You might want to call your local hospitals and see if they know anyone who will be willing to do your after care. Its a good place to start.

;)

Hi Tonia!

Dr. Rod was great. Are you having your surgery at Santa Engracia or Christus? I had mine at Christus. I am starting to feel good:). You probably are on your way by now - so good Luck! When you are down there or when you get back let me know.

Hi jkeirn. I am back and banded! You were right, Dr. Rod is great; so is Marisol; so is everybody. I had my surgery at San Pedro which was nice, so I can only imagine how wonderful Christus was. You are about a week and a half out; how do you feel? I feel beter than I did yesterday and the day before, but still not 'normal' ya know. Kind of 'gassy' and like I need to burp or something. Has that feeling gone away for you yet? How did you manage during the liquids week? I need to run out and get some creamed Soups. The broths I bought just leave me starving!

Dr. George Fielding of NYU Hospital in New York City will take care of you. He is known worldwide. It is easy to take the train into Penn Station and grab a cab . I sometimes have walked to the hospital. Google him and you will see his credentials. You must be seen monthly in the first year . Or every eight weeks or so. If you have any questions post them to me!

Thanks Kelly! I've seen Dr. Fielding's name throughout the posts, but didn't know he would care for Mexico patients. I will give him a call!

How much does Dr. Fielding charge for fills/visits?

And how was your experience with Dr. Rumbaut? Did he help you set up aftercare?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
