It's very sickening to be almost 9 months post op, and only lost 69 lbs.. It's so frustrating to know that u altered ur body, and still can't lose weight. I have consulted my dr and nut. They give me the same old list of things to do/not to do. Nothing changes!!

You are being too hard on yourself. 69 pounds down in 9 months is great!

As far as why you might be losing slower than some:

Were you a lower BMI starting out?

(lower BMI peeps tend to lose much slower than someone with a large amount of weight to lose)

Are you tracking every bite of food and sip of liquid?

Are you weighing/measuring every bit of your food so you know exactly how much you are consuming?

Are you eating too little calories (starvation mode) or too many calories?

Are you keeping carbs low?

Are getting in your Water and Protein goals?

Are you exercising?

If all of that is on point, then you just got lucky and are a slow loser. There is nothing wrong with it, and while I know it sucks, you just keep at it and remember it didn't take you a few months to gain all your weight, so it won't be a few months to lose it either. It isn't a race - you'll get there eventually. And losing it slower means your body and skin has a better chance of minimizing issues like loss of muscle tone, saggy skin and balance issues as your center of gravity changes due to losing a large amount of weight. :D

Keep positive and don't compare yourself to others. Just keep on track with your Protein, Water, low carb and exercise and you will reach your goal!!

I have barely been losing weight the past 6 weeks or so. Partially because I have a period every 2 weeks now, and its summer and I am retaining Water.

I am however smaller, all the time. Measure yourself every week, it helps when the scale isn't moving.

Also I think a lot of my freak out about my weight is because everyone says you lose the most in the first year, my year is almost up and I am 30 pounds heavier than I wanted to be at this point. I am trying not to focus on that so much, because I am the size in clothes I thought I would be at this point, which means in the end, I am probably going to end up smaller than I ever thought.

Think positive, being stressed only retains weight.

Wow, that's very true!! Thanks for the comments.

I don't think I'm eating enough.. Which doesn't help getting all the Protein that I need.

I will admit I'm ADDICTED to sunflower seeds and sweet tea. When I get hungry or want a snack I eat sunflower seeds instead of chips etc.

I hate Water now after surgery!!! And I hate all the additives u can put in water!!! I love regular sweet tea.

I'm walking around my subdivision, and chasing after a 4 year old.

When you say regular sweet tea, I'm assuming you mean made with sugar. Do you count the calories in the tea towards your overall daily calories? I looked quickly and, for instance, a large sweet tea from McDonalds is 280 calories. If you don't count those calories you're consuming way more than you should. If you are counting them, then you're not leaving enough of your calories for dense Protein which is needed for sustained loss! Good luck with your continued loss!

The maximum weight allowance on baggage for the last flight I made was 50 pounds, and one of my suitcases was right at that limit. Lifting it made me think of how I used to have that much excess weight on my body, every moment of every day. If you were to fill up bags with 69 pounds of weight and carry them around the house and neighborhood and your job for a few hours, you wouldn't scoff at that amount. You wouldn't say they "only" weigh 69 pounds. I think you should be tremendously proud of yourself!

@@Frankie'sGirl really covered everything very well. She's absolutely correct that how much weight you had to lose significantly alters the rate of your weight loss. She's also right about the benefits of losing weight at a slower pace. I've lost 65 pounds since having surgery last August, and am elated by it. I lost very little hair, and my skin is actually tighter and more youthful than it was prior to surgery. Sure, others lost that amount in a fraction of the time, but that's them, and I'm me. You're you. It's not like we're on a race where we're all starting out at the same place, running the same route, and there's a prize for who gets there first. What's most important is that you keep moving. 69 pounds is a huge amount of progress! Don't be discouraged. Persevere towards reaching your goals.

you can't expect to lose weight drinking sugar Water. Not only that, drinking sweet tea will just fuel your appetite and it will make things without sugar taste worse than they really do. You are ruining your new palette.

Have you tried adding these to your Water? They don't have that chemical taste

I'm 5'2 my BM before surgery was 46.

No doubt I think the tea and seeds are effecting me. Thank you all for ur support and help.

And I totally relate to carrying around 69lbs bc the more I lose.. The more I think I did I manage with all the extra weight on me.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
