Hi all:

On May 20th, I had an abdominalplasty and brachoplasty. So far so good, except that I have gained about 10lbs! I am scared of my mind. Has this happned to any of you? Any suggestions as to what I should do? I was thinking of doing my post WLS diet. Just Protein Shakes and Soups. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

It is quite likely retained water/swelling. Eat high Protein, stay hydrated.

The swelling after a Tummy Tuck is massive. It is completely normal. It will likely take months to go down. Especially if you had any Lipo. Pretty surprised your surgeon didn't warn you about it.

If you are in NYC, you can try https://www.instagram.com/plastymunecas/ they give good lymphatic massages and that will help you with the Water weight.

Don't remember how much I gained in swelling but instead of my usual 00-2 i was wearing size 4 for many months!!

Keep following your plan, get your Protein and liquids. Also, wear compression as long as you can, the longer you do, the better the final result will be. Once I could wear my own, I bought extra firm compression garments, which I wore for about 6 months.

The weight gain is very scary, but it's just swelling. Congrats and best of luck for a smooth recovery.

Wow, so happy to find this thread...I had my TT done in Feb and have gained 6 lbs and still have not lost it. I don't think it's Water weight though...I stopped wearing my compression garment after about 2 months...do you think if I started wearing it again it might help? I am happy with part of my TT (my vagina really got lifted and I like that!) and I don't have a lot of floppy skin, but my tummy is definitely not flat and my scar is like the bride of frankenstein...so trying to figure this out.

It really does take a LONG time to heal up from a TT. You could ask your surgeon if you are concerned. My scar took a full two years to fade to where it is now (5 years post-op now).

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
