I found out my peer to peer appeal was denied. I have a BMI of 35 with hypertension the insurance company says is controlled by medication. I know I am a borderline case but I was wondering if anyone has used Lindstrom Obesity Avocado recently. I saw some older reviews that said they were great but nothing recent. Thanks for your help. Look on the Obesity Action Coalition website for some guidance. I would appeal the decision. This seems to be the general theme lately - deny services that their benefits policy indicates would be covered. Ask them for the policy in writing and if there's nothing to indicate that the co-morbidity doesn't count if treated with medication - fight it! I have yet to see a policy that says "uncontrolled co-morbidity". They are basically punishing you for taking your medications as prescribed!
