Recommended Posts

It is my nieces birthday party on saturday and I want to know when did you guys first went out. I want to know what to expect and your experiences. By the way no one in my family knows about surgery only my parents and husband. Oh and I am 4 days post op. I will be 7 days on saturday.

Do you mean out to eat, or just...out? I finally left the house about a week after surgery. I didn't eat anywhere out for about 2 1/2 months.

I think you will be fine. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was running errands the following Monday. I would bring your water/shake in a sports bottle. If anyone asks you why you aren't eating you can always say you just got over a tummy bug and wanted to err on the side of caution.

Or.... If your niece is under 5 she probably won't remember you not being there and you can stay at home in bed and send a gift. ;)

Just kidding!! Have fun.

I first went out about a week after surgery but ended up cutting it short because I got lightheaded and a little dizzy.

However, that was walking around a big grocery/department store shopping. If the party is at a house or somewhere you can sit down, you might be okay. I was feeling fine, but still on just liquids. I didn't have the energy or stamina to walk that long.

Not sure what you mean by "out". I was out shopping days 1 and 2, I was out traveling via plane and car days 3 and 4. I went out to Grandmas house for Christmas dinner day 5, went out to get my haircut day 6 and went back to work day 7.

Christmas Day was the hardest, maybe because I hadn't really rested at all since surgery. I lounged in a recliner, sipping my Protein shake while everyone else chowed down at the dinner table. But they all knew about my surgery so my fatigue and eating habits weren't questioned.

Day seven was the first day I went out and felt good. I had a drain in place for nine days post op.

6 days post op. We did not stay long. I have to live in the thought that this is my journey, so if other people are going to eat & drink, I have to be prepared for that.

Yeah, my body just doesn't seem to mind surgery. Discharged less than 24 hours and back to work in two weeks after my spinal fusion surgery (even though I was on some kckass pain Meds for that one), Went grocery shopping and cleaned my house within 4 hours of waking up from gallbladder surgery. I'm always pretty wired after anesthesia.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
