ISOPURE...from the Vitamin Shoppe...40 g of Protein, no carb, in 20 oz bottle. Slightly sweet tasting, but always did its job with me. Helped me with the pre-op diet a lot, and made clear liquid stage pretty tolerable. I use it to break out of stalls and it usually works!

My nutritionist gave me guidelines for my shakes, so I'm surprised you didn't receive something like that. Here are the guidelines I was given:

  • Minimum of 20 grams of Protein per serving
  • Less than 8 grams of carbs with less than 2 grams of sugar, and a minimum of 3 grams of Fiber
  • Less than 3 grams of fat
  • Less than 200 calories per serving, best at 150
  • Whey isolate is preferable

My guidelines I got were very similar to those from @@JamieLogical with the exception of fiber (no minimum but we were supposed to add 2 tsp sugar free fiber powder if it did not have 3 grams of fiber) and calories -- our max was 180 calories per serving.

It's disappointing to me that some surgeons don't have a Nutritionist available for patients. I can't imagine going through any of this without a good Nutritionist. If I were you I'd find a nutritionist familiar with Bariatric Surgery.

Premiere Protein is a good shake to try (if your allowed shakes). They are high protein, low fat and low sugar.

The lady that told me about the shake just suggested me to buy some off the dr office but I think there expensive when I can get it cheaper and for more

An awful lot of us here use Premier Protein shakes, because you can get them at costco. They come in a box of 18. I can't remember how much they are per box, but under $1.50/shake.

If money is an issue you might also want to consider no sugar added carnation Breakfast essentials.

My Protein shake guidelines also said to make sure it doesn't say "protein concentrate, hydrolyzed Gelatin, or collagen protein" anywhere on the list of ingredients. ....this requirement is what keeps me from being able to use the Premier brand. I use the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury brand

The cheapest option for shakes is to buy whey isolate powder and make your own with Water, almond milk, or soy milk. You can buy flavored Protein powders or unflavored and flavor you shakes with sugar-free syrups.< /p>

Like kmorri I use Unjury and nectre brands bought in the dr. office. My doc seems very strict compared to some of the post I read here. We weren't given an outside option, even told us how much money we'd need prior to this stage. Honestly took the guesswork out of it

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
