Recommended Posts

Why r u even hanging out with people who would eat that in front of you. Sounds like you need new friends.

You need to be honest with yourself. You are sabotaging your ability to progress. I couldn't eat much upwards of 4 months out. But we have all had to make healthy choices after deciding to go this lifestyle change. Tomorrow is a clean slate, respect your body and nurture it's healing

Hi I am 12 days post op from surgery and I have already cheated with some fries with ranch yesterday and today the toppings of a pizza slice I know this is horrible and a definate no no but I could not resist when everyone is eating this in front of me, I don't know what to do now after I already ate it but I am so tempted to eat other than. Water because the shakes do not go down they are to thick and my Dr told me to get Isopure but I have not gone to go get it yet to try them. This is not a good thing to do but now what is there to do, I need help.

You're going to have a VERY hard time ahead of you! I was sleeved on Marched 24, and I have not cheated. Not because I haven't WANTED to but I'm more scared about what I would end up doing to my body. I just became able to go back to a "normal" diet and I haven't cheated. No one knows that I had the surgery so EVERYONE offers me food. BUT, the way my GOALS are set up! its not worth it. Figure out why its worth it to you to walk away!

No one on here can say they have never cheated but I have to agree with others. The post-op diet is to help you heal correctly and in the most healthy way possible to prevent any possible issues.

Aside from that if you start those habits so early what is to stop you later on from having just that one slice of pizza or the breadstick that goes with it. Later you'll want that soda (and it will hurt). Yes you will lose post-op with any surgery but if you don't at first make yourself follow the rules they won't become habit and it could become very difficult to maintain your weight loss or stop losing weight all together.

You can do this and it was only two things. It's very easy at this point to reign it in and say no more. Good luck

One thing you will find out about this forum is that opinions and tact will vary, but we mean well.

I agree that the same as you would not give a newborn pizza and Pepsi, you should not give your new tummy edibles that it cannot handle. Give your tummy a name. Mine is "Miss Tummy" and at 2 1/2 years, she is still the boss of me. She wins the pain argument every time.

It seems that you are the chief cook and bottle washer at your house. That means you are in control of the food shopping and the cooking. One of the best things you can do for your family and yourself, is to not buy anything made in a factory.

Factory edibles are not the same as food. They just tell us that Pop-Tarts and Kraft Mac & cheese are food because they made it and now they have to sell it.

You will need to train your adult common sense and post -surgical sense of self-preservation to take control over your taste buds. The whole idea of bariatric surgery is to increase our chances at longevity and to improve our quality of life.

One result of bariatric surgery that many of us do not expect is that losing weight helps you to re-invent yourself and emboldens you to be more outspoken. Each time you do not give in to temptation, you become emotionally stronger.

Hang in there......and give that new tummy some respect. You are the only gatekeeper it has while it is healing.

Gosh, I had a bit of chocolate in my 3rd week post op, and that made me so ill later.

I felt sorry for myself, as I was in the 3rd week stall.

The "Foamies" with horrible reflux were a wake up call for me.

I am now in my 7th week post op, on Soft to Solid phase, and just had 2 awful days with my allowed, well chewed food.

I had lunch recently with a friend, she had a meal, and I had a coffee.

I couldn't imagine what eating hard food such as pizza would do to the New Baby Stomach ....

After such a costly and major surgery, the possibility of serious complications, leaks, damage to the sleeve, ending up in ER ..... Too dicey to play with your life!

If you can't follow the post op instructions already, how are you going to cope later on?

I have to see my bariatric Psychologist and Dietician (NUT) as part of my recovery.

I hope that you have support of your surgical/medical team.

I am sure you want to be alive for your family, right ????? !!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
