When did you guys go back to the gym after surgery? What was your progression of working out? The only thing I've really been told is to not lift weights for 6 months. I used to do about 45-60 minutes of elliptical 3-5 times per week and a Zumba or Yoga class. I miss it! I was sleeves 3/28/16

My doctor told me on Tuesday that I had no restrictions but to listen to my body. I was sleeved 3/29. I'm back to the gym just being careful.

What are you doing at the gym for your workout? I feel like I could go back and start back up on the elliptical and just progress from there

First month was nothing but walking. Month two was light weighs. I started increasing everything by 10% per week after that. Started C25K month 5 with hot yoga. And that is the story of my post WLS life. ;-)

I was walking right after surgery. Progressed on to other cardio workouts for an hour 6 days a week. If you still have your resistance bands from St Luke's. Its a good way to start toning until you are released to weight lifting.

I'm now in maintenance. I jog 6 miles to 13.1 miles. I lift 3 days a week for an hour. The weather is getting nice in Boise. I will be out mountain biking, hiking and floating the river soon.

@@jenn1 I have been walking every day with my dogs, just thinking I feel ready to go back to the gym and do more cardio workouts. I never received any resistance bands, but I'll look into that. Thanks!

I was sleeved 3/4. I walked only for the first three weeks and am now starting my third week back at cross fit. I've been feeling good with no pain. My only struggle has been getting more than 100 grams of Protein in. I am down 50 pounds since my surgery date.

@206vette1 you've already lost 50 lbs?? Wow! If I may ask what was your starting weight? I was sleeved 1/25/16 and have lost 43 lbs. I have a hard time getting in all my Protein. I was type 2 diabetic and fibromyalgia my muscle tone is really loosened up, which I really don't want to end up looking like a piece of Jello ???? I'll be turning 53 in a couple of weeks and getting back into shape just isn't as easy as it was. Taking it slow. I'm a walker.

I was 405 the day of surgery. I'm 38 and was a full scholarship

Division 1 football player in the 90's. I was always in great shape but my significant weight gain started after I had three hip replacements on the same hip a couple years ago. I was non weight bearing for several months and gained significant weight throughout the recovery. I am also 6'3 and have quite a bit of muscle mass! I walked for at least an hour a day starting the day after surgery and started working out hard three weeks ago. I am working on losing weight and getting my hips back in shape at the same time. Good luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
