Hi Cally,

It's almost been 6 months since my operation, I can honestly say it is the best thing I ever did, I started at 132 kgs and I'm now 83 kgs, I won't lie to you, it's a bit of a learning curve but now I can almost eat a little of anything now, milk is still a bit of a problem though.

Be prepared to spend a fortune on clothes, I've gone from 42 inch waist to 32. I have a little loose skin but no big deal.

Best of luck

Thanks Jackie, that's incredible really, you must be thrilled, yes I'm kind of prepared mentally for the big change, but obviously still very nervous but it's reassuring to hear from someone who has been through it, I plan to be back in work in 10 days post op, I work in an office so do you think that's realistic? Any other tips? Thanks for your post x

I think 10 days is the minimum, I thought I would be back the following week but I needed the 10 days, while there was no ( or very little) pain and uncomfortableness in the days following the operation, it is I suppose a big assault on your system so take your time.

The only tip I can give is, when you think you are full, stop eating straight away, if you overdo it, it can get uncomfortable.

I am very happy with the path I chose, honestly, there are times that I wish I could eat a whole bowl of tribeca chicken wings, but I have never felt disappointed when I leave half of them behind.

Hi there,

Did your surgery go well? How are you getting on?

I had my surgery with Dr. Chris last Tuesday in Belgium and I live in Ireland as well.

Would be great to hear how it has been so far?

My story is quite similar to yours. Have been struggling for 18 years and gone through many cycles of losing a lot of weight, but then gaining it again.

I am on full liquids and it is going quite well. Getting a bit bored of the shakes though as I am on them since 2 weeks pre-op

Hi Edelc, I am from Dublin and I will be getting the MGB in September with Chris de Bruyne, I am a fast eater and I am trying to practice slowing down before the surgery. How is the hunger after the operation ? and in the weeks after ?

Hi there, how r u doing? I had MGB in March with Dr Chris, doing well, I'm down 1 stone 5 lbs and I feel great, weight loss has slowed down a lot but I'm feeling like I'm still losing, I find it's important to eat often as you can only eat small bits at a time

Hi there . I am just starting all the process and kind of not sure what the next step. Are you in Ireland too? You did all the pre op tests in the day of the surgery or before?

Could you help me and advise me what the step ? Can't wait to do the surgery .

How are you feeling at the moment? Recovered?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
