I am in the beginning stages of this. I went to the seminar, had my really, really, really long psych eval and I have the appt with the RN and Nut on Thursday and it's KILLING ME. I am a naturally inpatient person and this is really kicking it into high gear. I also have some other things I am waiting for to come in the mail and phone calls from people to line things up for the school year and haven't gotten those. It's all too much for me this week! I know that my surgery probably won't be til November at the earliest, in my head, I am ok with that, but just getting passed this stage is totally making me crazy!

Tell me all the great things you can do now that you could not before, give me your before and after stats. Something, entertain me!!! LOL!!!

We also go some pics back from our last hiking trip that were taken at the spot we got married. I look like frickin' hell in hiking boots. I WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THAT NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! N O T That really did it for me today. I don't get all sad and bummed anymore, I got really motivated and excited for this change.

MMS- sorry to be the one to tell you this but you will have to learn to be patient. It's a long ongoing process. I consider myself fairly patient, but have had my moments...

That being said, the band has been great for myself and thousands of others. You will be rewarded for jumping through all those hoops. There are inspiring stories all over this site. They helped me through the tough times.

Yes, I know, patience. Yesterday was a particulary bad day. I have so many parts of my life that are in a holding pattern right now. It feels a bit disorganized and I don't like it!!!!!

I love reading all the stories. There have been some very lively ones too!! I love the B&A pic seciton - WOW. Those are amazing.

So in 24 hours I will be on my way to the RN and maybe I will have SOME idea of what is going on. Well, off to the mailbox to see if that stuff I have been waiting for in here!

I can totally related to your impatience. I am a very organized person so when I went to the seminar in April I set myself out a timeline. First was the surgical consult. From that I was given stuff to do (lose weight before surgery, lab work, cardiology, pulmonary, nutritionist, psych, etc.) so I called and set up all my appointments trying to limit as much time off from work as possible so I had sick days left for surgery and recovery.

That perfect schedule lasted about a day. I got calls to reschedule appointments. Then appointments led to other lab work and testing. From that I had to go to other specialists to clear me. It seemed endless.

Finally after 3 months the day finally came and looking back I appreciated that I had such a complete physical (and mental?) evaluation for my own safety during surgery. In some ways it puts my mind at ease to know that about the only medical problem I had besides obesity is moderately high blood pressure which is being controlled with meds. No diabetes, no heart blockages, etc. and that hopefully with my band I can keep it that way and eventually have no medical problems at all.

Its all worth it IMHO!

Once upon a time there was a not-so-young, not-so-princessy girl. She was VERY tired of being too big to fit into a ball gown, forget about those glass slippers. So, looking around she realized that her prince charming was losing weight with the help of a magic band, so in early June of 2006 she decided she wanted that wonderous device for herself. She went to see the healers of her town, and everything looked good. Well, expect for her mean ole boss who said she couldn't take leave of her duties until September. So, she got everything all set up to have the band on August 31st, and started the wait. The looonnngg wait. Feeling like Rapunzel stuck in a tower...:faint:

Then one day she read a post on a board, and it hit her that not only had she made the wait to surgery, but that almost a year had passed. And she weighed 65 pounds less then she had then. It had not always been easy, but it was an interesting journey to say the least. She realized that ball gowns and glass slippers were not in her future, but a pair of jeans bought 4 years ago in a fit of hope fit for the first time. She realized she could just about climb up that tower and still breath and even talk at the same time. Her doctor told her she was much healther, and she knew that her future would be happy.

Oh, and Prince Charming is happy with the changes in her as well. Lets just say that feeling better and having more energy affects all part of life!:whoo:

November will really be here before you know it. I felt just the way you do this past April after going to the seminar, but it will be worth the weight, get it WEIGHT. Okay I won't quit my day job. Just start saving and planning for your new clothes.

Same here. Decided to go for the band in May and found a seminar on June 27th in my home town. From July 27 thru Aug 3 I did all my blood tests, upper GI, sleep apnea study, psyc evaluation, and at the end of that week a conference with the weight management group at my surgeon's office. I had thought from listening to the seminar, I would be able to pull off haveing the surgery in the bag by the end of August. Now they tell me about the stuff that will delay me:

1. There is a small unknown "flap" at the entrance to my stomach. It causes no obstruction and hasn't caused me any upset stomach, reflux, blockage, NOTHING. They want to do a throat scan to look at it with a camera and possibly snip it out, then they will of course send it to the lab for examination. Yet another test to schedule and wait for the results.

2. My blood work showed I was deficient in Vitamin D so I was prescribed prescription grade Vitamin D pills that I will take once a week for the next 8 weeks. My PCP wants to redo that blood test in 4 weeks.

3. My blood work also showed I had an enzyme/bacteria in my stomach that causes me to be very prone to ulcers. I was prescribed the triple therapy Prevpac to kill that out. I will take that for 14 days, when I will be retested for the enzyme/bacteria.

Needless to say I am torn about whether to be happy or disappointed. On one hand I am in pretty darn good health for a 55 year old lady with arthritis in her feet and knees. Lungs are good, respiration is good, cholesterol slightly high but OK, generally pretty good. On the other hand, looks like surgery is definitely been moved into the September 07 range.

I know it will go fast. Just everything all at once is on a major hold.

And the information I was waiting for in the mail? Ya, today the genius that works in the record department mailed it to my house instead of the school I am applying to. They have a policy about it arriving to them in a sealed envelope. I threw it on the counter like it was on fire and was frantically dialing the phone. So that will set me back a few more days, at least I now know what the hold up was. But that is totally my luck!

So this is lame, but in 16 hours I will know more and that makes me feel better.
