Yes, but not like before, I am 11 months post. For about the first 6 months, hunger was not really 'there', it is now.

I think I NOW realize the difference between thirst and hunger and I definitely know when to stop eating =]

Head hunger early on was a real challenge. Now, at 19 months post-op, I occasionally get a craving or some head hunger, but nothing like in the beginning. As for real, physical hunger, I do get that if I go about 3-4 hours without eating. Usually it manifests as "hanger" more than anything. I don't even notice it initially myself, but people around me do. I turn into a total Snickers commercial apparently. I have also noticed that on my long runs for my half-marathon training I will get dizzy and kind of nauseous if I don't intake some calories at regular intervals. I started eating an energy gel packet every 3 miles to ward that off.

I felt hungry in the first several days after surgery. went (with NUTS approval) to some soft foods early. couldn't each much! but the hunger went away.

I do feel hungry at times, and I also get cravings if I think about yummy foods at times. But, I can either just wait and the feeling usually goes away, or I can eat something sensible and I will fill up quickly due to my small stomach, so it's nothing I can't handle.

I am 8 months out from surgery. I really don't get hungry. If I don't eat every 3-4 hours, I start feeling sluggish or dizzy. It my signal to know when I I haven't eaten on track. I have a very busy job and try to eat about every 3 hours, but there are times that I get caught up in something and just forget. When these feeling come on, I eat a little Protein snack then I am good to go for another several hours.

Thats good to know. Im on day 4 post op and on only Clear liquids and Protein shakes only. Ive only been allowed to add Protein since yesterday and I am very hungry. I have really bad hunger pains and I wasnt sure if that was normal. In all my meetings they kept talking about how I wouldnt get as hungry because of the change in hormones so I was not expecting this.

Post op I was anything but hungry. I'm 7.5 months out now and if I find myself hungry it's usually because I have had too many carbs earlier in the day.

One month out, no hunger, quite the opposite. I eat on a schedule because I know I must, but no hunger whatsoever. I do notice that I am able to eat more easily in the afternoon/evening than in the morning. Right now it's time for my egg and I'm not the least bit interested.

Sometimes early post op hunger is really just reflux, check with your doctor for a prescription that might help.

Thank you. I will. I didnt even think of that because Im on a med for reflux. It just felt like hunger pains so I didnt even think it would be anything else.

I'm pretty sure mine is head hunger. I've been post op 4 days and I miss food in the sense that I loved the taste. I want to eat with my family but wouldn't even think about it considering all I've gone through and will go through. I don't want it to get stuck or hurt either.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
