Mexico or US

So I am in the process of doing my supervised diet for the gastric sleeve but even if my insurance approves me I still have to pay 40% out of pocket, plus deductible plus who knows what else. So i am looking into getting it done in Mexico because it will still be alot cheaper, can anyone give me any advice and what there thoughts and experiences are with gastric sleeve in mexico. Also i am really wondering how after care would work, especially if there is any complications, and would that be out of pocket also?

Congrats on getting your date! That's always a big deal. Only a month and a half away! You must be very excited and anxious.

I am having surgery on 4/22 with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. My insurance covers the procedure in the states and my out of pocket would be about the same as I am paying in Mexico. I chose Dr. Ortiz over my surgeon in the US because he has a lower complication rate and their level of service at OCC has far exceeded the surgeon I was working with here at home. I am confident in my decision to go to Mexico and not go through my insurance and I can't wait !!

Yeah, my surgery wouldn't have been covered by my insurance anyway, but I liked the freedom of picking any surgeon I wanted, deciding when I wanted the surgery on my own schedule, and not having to jump through so many arbitrary hoops for insurance.
