I've hit a plateau with my weight loss I've been at 142-144 for a little over a month now and cant seem to drop any more. I'm finally at a healthy weight, so I'm sure my body is saying hey I'm happy where I am. I exercise daily I take a 30 min lunch break walk, and then at night I work out to a dvd for about 25 min 6 days a week. Now my nutrition is as follows I have a cup of chili for lunch and Grilled chicken with green Beans for dinner and as a snack I'll do trail mix. I drink Water through out the day. I feel like If I add to my calories then I will not loose but gain or stay the same. My only thoughts is why I'm not loosing is due to my nutrition and nothing to do with my workouts. Any help or suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Oh and I want to at least loose another 10-15lbs

What about Breakfast? Is trail mix your only snack? About how much of it do you eat? Do you drink any Protein shakes/bars or anything? If your only Protein is coming from chili and grilled chicken, then I can't imagine you are getting nearly enough. Optimistically, that's maybe 40-50 grams a day from just those two sources?

If you are working out six days a week and ONLY eating some chili, some chicken, and some trail mix each day, you aren't getting nearly enough calories or protein.

I agree.

What are you eating for Breakfast?

What is your Protein target?

Not eating enough, and not getting enough nutrition can have an impact on whether or not you are losing weight.

Have you talked to your NUT lately?

Ok agreed. I've never been a breakfast person, if I skipped lunch or dinner then I would replace with a shake. I usually will graze with the trail mix. So I'm at the conclusion I'm not getting enough in to loose the weight. My Protein target is 60 grams. so basically my day looks like this. AM I'll have 24 oz of Water, snack I will graze over trail mix, lunch I'll have chili, and dinner I'll eat a Protein with a veggie sometimes without the veggie's. I'm a creature of habit so I like to eat the same thing over and over for a little while and then I will change it up.

I don't like that you are grazing with the trail mix. You may be eating more than you realize that way. Grazing is one of the easiest ways to bypass the restriction of the sleeve, because you never truly get "full". So it can be a slippery slope. Much better to eat on a schedule and have a specified amount of something as your "snack" between "meals".

I am not a breakfast person AT ALL either. I never ate breakfast until I started trying to seriously lose weight. Even still, my "breakfast" is just a Protein bar. You could try a Protein Bar or shake, since those are easy to eat "on the go" or at your desk at work. I always eat mine first thing when I get into work, because I love my sleep, so my pre-work routine is waking up at the last possible moment, rolling out of bed, hopping in the shower, getting dressed quick, then usually getting to work 5-10 minutes late.

There can be NO DOUBT that eating breakfast helps with weight loss though. So it's worth squeezing it in where you can. Even on weekends, when I sleep in, I wake up at my normal time, eat my Protein Bar, take my Vitamins, then go back to sleep!

So my suggestions are:

  • add a Protein bar or shake for breakfast
  • cut out the grazing and instead have scheduled, pre-measured Snacks
  • try tracking your food for a week or two just to make sure you really are where you think you are with your calories and macros, then maybe try adjusting up or down as needed

Change up your workout routines. Your body gets used to same 'ol

Stop "not" eating breakfast, I hate to eat it too but I always take a 30gram Protein shake.

More Protein at minimum 70-80 grams a day,Water they say 48-64 minimum but let's be honest here stop settling on minimums

Are you taking Vitamins?...the right ones?

Yes taking all the correct Vitamins along with 62 ounces of Water a day. I will change up the workouts and I've started the past couple of days having a Protein Shake in the am which is 30 grams of Protein.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
