Which Bariatric Products Do You Buy, and Where Do You Buy Them?

Recommended Posts

You need to follow a special diet before and after surgery, and you may need Vitamin supplements. Some patients limit their special products to the bare minimum, with maybe a few Protein Shakes and powders for the pre-op and post-op liquid diets, and some Vitamins to prevent deficiencies.

Others find it easier to follow their WLS diets when they buy a few more bariatric products. You might depend on specialty products such as low-carb, high-protein oatmeal, Pasta dinners, and Snacks, for example. Or you might choose only those vitamins labeled as specially formulated for bariatric surgery patients.

Which bariatric products do you buy, and where do you buy them? Do you find them at your local grocery store? Maybe they’re at a supplement store. Online stores are definitely popular, too. How do you decide where to get your items?

I purchased my first bottle of a Multivitamin at my Bariatric Surgeons office. It's "The Bariatric Advantage Advanced Multi EA". They taste like a candy Bracelet.

I also purchased the "Calcium Citrate Chewables", they taste like a tootsie rolls.

I ordered from a company called allstarhealth. When I noticed how affordable their products, especially great name brand products were I paused ...so I called them to ask why and how they could make a profit selling so low. Then I called the vendors of three of my favorite Vitamin brands and asked them if they sold directly to this company in All Star Health, California, and they said they did indeed. Then I called back and asked All Star if they sold off market or outdated Vitamins (skin care, pet care, etc) and they said no. The reason they can sell so low and still make a profit is because the turn over is huge. (I used to own my own store-front Jewelry Business, it's a Dog-Eat-Dog world out there)

So from them I ordered :

Futurebiotics Trace Minerals Advanced Colloidal (for when I'm cleared)
Vitamin Code Raw Vitamin C by Garden of Life.
When I am cleared to make my own shakes, I have the Garden of Life Green Magma, algae, spirulina, wheat grass etc. to add to my Protein mixes.
Country Life Magnesium Potassium Aspartate

I always love to read about what works for people. I have Fibromyalgia, and that is why I choose some of the options I have.

Don't even ask what's in my Vitamin Burlap Sack, which I am staying away from currently!

I get my Vitamins etc. online through Celebrate directly at their website. They are a little more expensive than buying Vitamins at the drug store, but they include the Iron and I need a chewable because I can't tolerate the Vitamin pills right now for some reason.

I buy my Protein shakes from Rite Aid (they are the GNC Lean 25) and I get my Protein Bars (Power Crunch) at Walmart. I am a Gold Member at Rite Aid and get 20% off all my purchases. Walmart so far has the best price on the Power Crunch.

I buy most things at costco but have mail ordered from netrition.com

Thanks for the tip on allstarhealth, good prices but being in California I hope shipping is faster than netrition. Also netrition is based in Texas so in the heat of summer you have to sometimes pay extra for packaging to keep your products from cooking while it travels by donkey. Seriously, they are really slow..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
