I am new here. I am almost through all the pre-op visits. I need to do my psych test. I have two more visits with my nutritionist, one this month, one next. Today is my EGD and swallow test. Did anyone else have to do this pre-op? I have to be at the hospital at 10. EGD is scheduled at 11:45am and swallow test at 1pm.

I turn 30 in April.

Starting weight 230

Current weight 225.3

Height 5'4"

Once all this is completed(in March) the next step is to submit everything for pre-authorization to my insurance. Looking at a June surgery date.

I did all of these tests as well, they are pretty standard. I am so excited for you!

I did these as well and the EGD was a breeze, but the nervousness of getting put to sleep gave me anxiety. The EGD itself only took 15 minutes

Thanks for answering. I think I'm most nervous about the IV sedation.

Glad I found this support system. I have been doing, "ok" on my pre-op diet. I have cut out all sodas. I am doing well on Protein first, then Veggie. I admit to cheating with Starbucks frapps and pizza. Last night I had bread, eep! I didn't realize how important that pre op diet is until I read the posts here. My insurance requires 3 months of nutritional visits, not 6. I am in month one. Time to get serious.

You can do this!

No worries!

One of the first things I did was start asking myself "am I hungry or am I just wanting to eat this because it's in front of me ?"

Surprisingly enough, the answer was usually no I was not hungry.

Good luck on your journey!

Everything went well today. The EGD found a hiatal hernia. My doctor said he would fix it during surgery. The swallow test further confirmed the hernia.

I thought I had zero health issues besides being fat.

These pre-op tests have found moderate sleep apnea (I stop breathing 15 times per hour), a fatty liver, and now this hernia. Definitely been an eye opening experience.

If one thing I'm thankful for IS ALL the testing, but they didn't tell me abt the fatty liver ...how did they detect that ?

Good to have checked. I don't have to have the pre-op tests besides the blood tests. Not sure why...Also have my psych appointment this week and then submit to insurance

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
