Dumped on Valentine's Day

Recommended Posts

I got catfished today, Valentines Day, but I've been suspicious of him from the start. Texted thru a chat app (he claimed he was shy about talking on the phone which I didn't believe), then when making plans to meet, he suddenly gets an assignment to go to Afghanistan for 6 weeks starting tomorrow - says he's semi-retired Army.

So I told him to take a pic of himself with his dog and send it to me right now, through the chat we were using. He got defensive, then logged out. Uh huh.

Look at us bullet-dodgers!

You didn't get "catfished", Sweety. You "escaped the hook". Whew, that was a close one!! Good Girl!

Dumped is the wrong word. Rejected is probably more accurate. Today I'm back in my groove and ready to move on. @@CowgirlJane, that is terrible! What a mind screw.

I am a firm believer that God or the Universe will remove everything from your life that needs to be removed in preparation for giving you what you rightfully deserve. When someone walks away--be grateful, because that means that you are one step closer to meeting the person you are supposed to be with. I met my husband--who is my biggest supporter and best friend at the lowest part of my life after having been in a horrifically abusive relationship for years. When I let that loser go--my best friend and life partner showed up, and we have now been together for several years. Clear the path--focus in on yourself--and when the time is right the person you are going to be very happy with will show up. And for all those who may disagree--maybe they just haven't done enough clearing.

WLSResources is SPOT ON!! I can't say it any better. I can wholeheartedly sympathize with you: I am almost 41, and haven't had a boyfriend since I was 20. It has been a long road, much of the time very lonely, BUT I am NOT going to settle for anything less than what fits my criteria. I want a God-fearing man who is honest, kind, and into me. You will find your prince, just like I will. He is out there...

At your age not having children or ex husbands could be a negative if that means you're only pursuing guys in the same situation. Sorry.... The reason is that guys at your age that are still single without children are usually kinda problematic. My advice? Date a single divorced dad. It's a lot safer!!

I'm sure you are a catch. The thing with online dating is you never know someone's situation. He could have been seeing other women before his date with you. Usually people who are dating online date multiple people at once. His denial of a second date could have nothing to do with you.

To keep yourself from feeling low when one date doesn't work out, go out with lots of guys! Get coffee with a few, go on some second dates... Spread your options out more. Try not to have big expectations in the beginning. Just see it as fun and good practice.

I know you're a beautiful and worthwhile person and a man out there is going to be your perfect mate. Remember it only takes one! But you have to be willing to weed through some rotten apples if your going to find him.

I don't care if the gentleman in question has children. At my age, it should be expected and I love kids. I simply haven't been as fortunate as many others to have that opportunity. The gentlemen in question on Valentines day is divorced with twin 11 year old girls.

I am trying to not let it get me down, and really after that first night it hasn't bothered me - it's almost funny. I don't have much experience with dates at all - less than a handful my entire life. My former weight had much to do with that and certainly caused some stout self-esteem issues. This is all stuff that people learn as teens, but I did not. I acknowledge my issues and am trying to change them.

:) I don't think dating multiple people at once is a possibility right now as I can barely get one date with one gentleman LOL! I have you lovely people here, my family, and a few friends who are ready to strap on their boots for some butt kicking and that just makes me grin. Onward to bigger and better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
