Anybody having RNY in the near future in Brisbane

It seems like we have not a lot of action in our Aussie forum. My date is 8/3/16 in Brisbane. Would love to meet other Australians having surgery around this time

Hi Daina, my surgery is next Friday! So close now! Is this revision surgery for you? Welcome to the page. There's also an American Facebook support page that is useful if you're interested

Thanks ChunkyMonkey76 for your quick reply! No this isn't revision surgery for me - just tired of dieting and only getting bigger! I just can't do it anymore! Wow next Friday is so close - which hospital will you be in?

I'm in Australia and sitting waiting to see my surgeon to hopefully book in a date for sleeve surgery. I just wanted to say hi to my fellow Aussies

Good luck to all of you - hope it goes well!

Hi eclecticwingtips & welcome to the group as well!

Thanks ChunkyMonkey76 for your quick reply! No this isn't revision surgery for me - just tired of dieting and only getting bigger! I just can't do it anymore! Wow next Friday is so close - which hospital will you be in?

I'm having it done at Allamanda on the Gold Coast with Dr Liew

Hi Sisterchip,

Welcome.... a new life it will be. What kind of surgery have you chosen? Sleeve of RNY? 7 April is fast approaching!

Hi Revisional - I have chosen the RNY - the date is closing in fast!

Awesome, pls post updates... Best of luck with your surgery.

wow it is great to know there are a few of us here now to support each other. Im not sure about anyone else but I am feeling excited and nervous. I am also finding the Protein shake diet to be a little tedious but i'm allowed to have steamed non starch vegetables so I had that for lunch just to break it up a little

Our numbers are growing, it's so good to talk in Kgs and mls. I have started my pre op diet, to weeks on optifast and it's going ok so far. I can add a cup of salad and a cup of steamed veg a day as well as a few frozen blue berries to my shakes. Pretty good really! I'm from North Qld so I am coming down to the Wesley in Brisbane to have my surgery on the 8/3.

Also nice not having to write that back to front....those of you who have been on other forums will know what I mean. Anyway I am just keeping busy with work and next week I will get everything organised as I plan to stay down for at least 10 days. Let's keep the conversation going [emoji4]

So very excited, i finally have a timeline to work with.. Consult date with Dr Liew 21 April with surgery approx early June. Chunky Monkey76,,, mine will be in the new Gold Coast Private Hospital so im pretty stoked about that. Your surgery must be one of the last ones at Pindara as it would seem that Dr Liew is moving to the new hospital.

There is an open day there this Sat so we are going to pop along to check it out!

I can't wait for all of you who have surgery coming up in the next couple of weeks to update post op...

Good luck all! xx

Hi all

Good to see the numbers growing. There is also a fantastic FB site Gastric Bypass and Weight Loss Surgery Australia - the URL is https://www.facebook.com/groups/1522935474586942/?ref=br_tf.

I joined this group as well and there are so many people of there supporting each other. If you are FB, i would suggest you join this group as well.

I finally told my parents yesterday that I am doing the surgery and they were pretty good about it. They think it is radical but they are concerned about my weight, so they said they would provide me with whatever support I need - so that is a great outcome. I have started the Optifast shakes a couple of weeks early - to ease myself into the process really! I have been concerned that I would not be able to manage the pre-op diet.

Good to hear everyone is doing good at the moment. I was a little overwhelmed about the surgery and my new life the other day, but I have been feeling much better the last couple of days - just focusing on the positives and what I can control really.

Take care and chat soon

D

Great to see you have support around you Sisterchip as along the way you will have people ask you how you lost your weight and don't be surprised when you tell them (and please don't be embarrassed or ashamed to tell someone), that their response may be "oh you've done it the easy way"!! No way is this the easy path. I have had a lapband for 6 nearly 7 years now, and it has been such a mental struggle every day. There is no way i would change what i had done, and in fact as earlier posted in an doing RNY revisional surgery in the next few months but when i hear that, i just want to slap someone!!

Anyway, best of luck to you.

I had a lot of reflexology done pre-surgery to prepare my body for the upcoming changes and it may be a bit late for most of you but give it a thought. This is a fantastic alternative holistic approach to your healing processes. It may also help with the anxiety you may be feeling.
