Day 2 of 14 pre-op diet...help!

Recommended Posts

I am staying strong but please, send me some of your pre-op diet success stories of peering through! Surgery is 2-17.

I can have: 3 Bariatric Advantage shakes, 2 BA bars, a cup of 1% milk, 1 banana, up to 24 oz of broth, & up to 3 sf jellos or Popsicles per day.

The BA shakes are not good. I tried using flavored liquid stevia with them but it made them sickeningly sweet. I tried blending with ice. The only good combo was a chocolate shake with half a frozen banana & 4oz of milk/4oz Water, blended with ice. I can't even choke down chicken broth on day 2!

I've heard it gets easier after day 3 so please tell me how you got through it! I have 12 more days of this. It seriously sucks but I'm not giving into my temptations (which is pretty much anything!) ????

I am on day 6 of 14. My surgery is next friday. We only get Clear Liquids. No food. Only 1 cup of Jello and 2 popsicles. It's been super rough. Day 2 was horrible. It does get better though. Drinking horrible shakes don't help at all. I had 2 different kinds. I ended up trying Premier Protein. The vanilla kind. It's so good. It's just like a watered down vanilla milkshake. I hope things get better for you. It's gonna be hard but it does get better. Just keep drinking Water or something to keep your mind occupied.

For broths make your own. I had to so I got really creative and just strained anything I cooked that was solid. I like nectar brand Protein Powder. I use chocolate or vanilla in coffee Decaf of course and crystal lite with vanilla. Orange flavor makes it taste like a 50-50 ice cream bar. I was really lucky where I was allowed a Atkins or other light dinner once a day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
