Yesterday I went to a friends after work and like normal she handed us all a glass of wine. I thought nothing of it forgot all about the fact that I have a new stomach and took a sip of wine. My body reminded me immediately that it was not ready for alcohol and I felt that wine burn all the way down into every crevice of my stomach. My face turned bright red I got hot and I started to panic I grab some Water and started sipping on Water. I won't be making that mistake again an ytime soon.

Whoa! Did you feel ok? I couldn't imagine how that would feel!!!! Glad you caught yourself!
I felt okay afterwards but I understand why they say no alcohol for 6 to 8 weeks.
Mine made me sign a contract saying I understood no alcohol for 3 months and that even then it would only take a few sips to get me tipsy.
Well now I have blood in my stool and have to double up on these meds that they prescribe to heal our tummy.

How a tiny little .... oops... can bite us in the butt. I bet I don't forget that again.

Oh wow! Hope you get healed quickly!

Hi those of you that have started the blended pureed food already. I get to start this Sunday. I was wondering. ...I know I can have scrambled eggs but do you have to put them in the blender too? How have you all been eating your eggs?

Anyway but fried. No you don't have to blenderize them, just cook softer.

You don't have to blend the eggs. And i was allowed Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. Kind of like what you could feed a baby.
That's funny I got some baby food green Beans yesterday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm feeling stronger and smarter every day. But get these weird hicups. Like my new stomach pulls in air. It's crazy really and every time it happens I start laughing. I hope this isn't forever. ????????

I was wondering about hiccups - I'm scared to get them but good to know they don't cause damage lol. Sometimes I feel like im getting them but I don't.

My weekend was great! Glad yours was too! I feel totally healed from the surgery, I just need to continue getting used to my sleeve. I'm very sensitive to quantities right now and I have noticed that 1.5 - 2 ounces is my max capacity for food. I can probably do 4 oz for liquids if I drink carefully.

Anyways, have a great week everyone!

I'm the same. I was telling my husband it's like if I have 2oz in one meal the next meal I can only get 1oz.

It takes over an hour to drink my 10 Oz Protein shake.

How is everyone's weight loss going. ? I am losing slowly now which is discouraging but hope it picks up again.

3 lbs down from last week. I only weigh in on Monday mornings. I have to send the numbers to my doctor so I decided I would only weigh when I need to do it for him so that I wouldn't drive myself nuts.

Yea I'm doing it weekly because I would do it everyday and I found that when I didn't see weight loss, I would get discouraged. But with weekly is better. Keep up the good work.

I am trying to train myself to not get discouraged by plateaus like before. I used to get mad and figure why bother with the effort. I actually feel somewhat validated now. Like if my body can plateau with 600 cals and a 2 mile walk- then no wonder it did it before the operation!!! I like the sleeve because it is forcing me to not give up. I feel SOOO hopeful for all of our bright futures.

And my doctor reminded me. You didn't get here over night. ???? I was like. . . It seemed like it. . . But he is right. We will get there and we just have to be strong and stay patient. ????

I know! Which is annoying because they're really good only when they're cold so when I grab one on the way to work it sucks because i only get to drink 1/3 of it cold lol.

I had surgery 2/2/16 so I am in the same spot as everyone here. I have been eating soft fried eggs every morning for like 4 days now. No issues whatsoever. My HW is 390 my Pre Op Weight was 365, CW is 328!!! Im male, 5,10 (single lol) I'm feeling great! Also I've had a couple servings of alcohol, one whiskey sour and sipped one shot of Patron tequila. All went down smooth. Tried wine once but it was too acidic going down. Alcohol will def be a once in a great while thing tho. I was two lbs lighter on the scale the next day if you can believe it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
