I had my surgery yesterday, so I am officially banded :clap2:. I've had my fair share of pain, but still left the hospital yesterday afternoon after a few doses of IV pain meds. Today I've been really sore, but of course I expected that. I wanted to make sure that this gurgling/sensation that I need to burp is normal, though. I don't feel like I'm going to throw up and nothing ever comes up but air, but it worries me. I'm just scared there's too much action going on down there and it's going to affect my band. I feel like it's me trying to get out all the laparoscopic gas, but it's such a strange sensation that I figured it warranted asking the pros on here. It's just kind of an uncomfortable burping feeling... and it usually happens when I'm NOT drinking. I think it happens most frequently when I'm lying down and sit up. It's like I feel the gas in my chest shifts and out goes a little burp. Is this normal? It doesn't seem like what people call a productive burp, so should I be concerned?

I've been doing everything basically by the book. I was only doing Water and pink lemonade Crystal Light until I ventured to try some sugar free cherry Jello today. So good! I haven't been hungry, of course, so I'm mainly just taking things in to make sure I'm staying hydrated. I've been feeling pretty weak, so I had some Vitamins today per suggestion of my surgeon. He said that should perk me up a little bit. We'll see.

I took my pain meds right before typing this and I'm getting a little loopy, so I should probably wrap this up before I make a fool out of myself :heh:. Time for bed anyway.

Let me know what you think about the whole "burping" thing. I'm hoping it's nothing, but I had to come check with you all or I'll never stop thinking about it. Thanks in advance for your time and help :)

P.S. If parts of this post make absolutely no sense, blame the meds

Hi Tracie,

What you are feeling is normal, just keep on burping. I still get gurgling sometimes, and I was banded on 5/24/07. Don't worry it may take some time for the stomach to calm down. Good Luck

Anna

I was banded 8 weeks ago and my stomach still gurgles a lot. It's just air moving around. Mine gets worse when I am hungery or drinking lots of liquids.< /p>

Ditto here...I was at an inservice a few days ago and was embarrassed as several people heard my stomach growling across the room! But right after surgery, my goodness the rumbles and such coming from me were remarkable. It does get better...just hang in there!

Banded yesterday (Friday) and having the same issues, my tummy is making really loud noises, and I burp when I walk or stand up. Not to be crude, but I have been passing a lot gas also.

I was banded on 7/25 and my stomach has been talking to me a lot. Nothing painful, but I definitely can hear it. No need to worry. It's normal!

Don't you love LBT just for this reason? You can ask questions at almost anytime of day and get responses to calm you down (or spur you to action if necessary).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
