@@DaisyAmy well i went through the op a month ago but i did have a problem with the catheter, it started leaking, my doctor said it may have been because of the kidney stones that went trhough my uretra causing it to get a little bigger or something like that, anyway, they removed it like an hour after the morphine wore off.

But mehh it was worth it, ive lost 40 pounds since then.

All I have left is the EGD and 2nd Nutritionist appt. Hopefully I will get a surgery date soon. My insurance only requires 2 week pre op liquid diet. Kind of nervous as this is a revision from a gastroplasty from back in the early 90s.

I would say be prepared for the emotional changes. I just started my journey toward the gastric, and already I'm noticing things I never did. It's good, but challenging.

Good luck!

I just had my last weigh in for my insurance #6! Good luck! My advice is follow the diet they give you and move as much as you can. Every little but helps. Every pound lost is a pound in the right direction! I have had my appt. with the nutritionist now I have my physiological appt, an appt with my regular Dr to sign off and then 1 last pre surgery consult with surgeon. And surgery scheduled on March 17th! So plan on 7 months.

Absolutly nothing, the only thing that could happen is that the op lasts 30 mins longer so dont worry

I had my consult yesterday and we agreed on the sleeve. My surgery will be in June. I've already done my psych eval, my gynecologist faxed over my most recent physical results, and I've been to one class. I still have to go to a support group meeting and my pre-op class and nutrition appointment is on March 22nd. They asked me some questions at my consult that ruled out any pulmonary, cardiac or sleep studies so I was glad for that.

I just had my info session this past Monday....have my consult with the surgeon this coming Monday. I'm really nervous and I hope it's normal to feel this way. I kind of can't believe I'm actually going through with this!

Hello all . This is my first post. I'm in Ontario so our process is a bit different but I am at the beginning. I have had my consultation/orientation. Have received initial medical clearance as low risk. Have dietician and psych Mar 10 and sleep test on Monday. I am ever so grateful for this win/win.

Looking to live life again

I just started the process in Jan. I had my initial consult, general dietician meeting, liver ultrasound, labs, and Dr follow up visit to review my labs. I have a 6 month supervised weight management process with the dietician. My first visit is today which means my 6 months start today. I have my psych eval on Monday and my EGD on Tuesday. Hope to have surgery in Aug or Sept. I am going through the process in Ohio but have to fly to South Carolina for the surgery because of my insurance.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
