what does the 3 month plan entail? I had no plan until now....which is green salad/ veg and Protein shakes. On day 4 now & craving chocolate.

I have been working on Portion Control, reducing soda and carb intake, increasing Protein and getting at least 15 min of exercise 5 days per week.

Well hello everyone, i'm getting my surgery done in thursday and i'm just curious uhmm my brother told they put a catheter so i can pee while in recovery, is that true???

I'm so afraid of this because i had kidney stones when i was 16 and i know how painful it is to have something in the uretra and it bleeds and stuff soooooooo did any of you went through this???

I just had my consult on Friday and am starting the 6 months supervised diet and questioning if I will be able to handle that without a complete breakdown! One week of high Protein low carbs and two weeks of liquid diet for 6 months. It seems nearly unreal to me to expect someone with food issues to do this but i am going to try.

I have never had any type of medical procedure beyond having a baby but at 47 and 5'6" 330 lbs it's time . I have PCOS and type 2 diabetes and I want my life back, but this whole process seems so overwhelming.

6 months of liquid diet?

6 months of alternating between one week high protien and two weeks liquid.< /p>

I didn't have one. Ask if they use one or not. From what I can tell most don't. They will have you up and walking pretty quickly so you really won't need one.

Hi everyone,

I'm in the pre-op stage. I went to the seminar 1/7, initial appointment 1/18,and scheduled for the nutritionist, body mass composition, stress test, bone density scan, and pap smear. I am also scheduled for a follow up with the doctor and psych eval on 2/16.

The nurse practitioner said my Iron and Vitamin d levels were low, but all is perfect on everything else. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 21,but have not had blood sugar or cardiac issues. I will have to do a 3 week diet before surgery and supplement D/iron. Since my bmi is 55.7, my insurance does not require a 6 month program. Hopefully I will have a surgery date within 6-8 weeks. Good luck to you all!

From wjat I've read they only insert catheters if the surgery is open & not laparoscopic/keyhole.

I'm working through my supervised Diet program now. My insurance only requires 3 months but work scheduling issues will bump my surgery to June.

My program is through my work's Employee Health. No specific weight loss number, just no gaining and completed weekly food journals and fitness logs turned in to demonstrate understanding of healthier eating habits and increased exercise.

Feel pretty good, I'm down 16 lbs since Jan 7th.

I'm just starting the process as well! I attended the seminar last month and have my first appointment next week. I have no idea what to expect for this first appointment, but I'm super excited.

Off topic, but is that an MGK reference? :)

It's standard to get a catheter when you go under anesthesia so you don't have an accidental discharge while under. I've had a catheter several times for other surgeries and they have always waited until I've been under to put it in. They usually take it out shortly after surgery. I never had a problem with any of mine. It wasn't bad at all.

It all depends. At my hospital, it's pretty standard NOT to do a catheter - to the point where they have signs reminding you to use the bathroom right before your procedure. I was pretty happy to not have to go through that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
