3 months out, new nausea and pain

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am about 3.5 months post op and more recently I have been getting pain/pressure feeling after eating a few bites (grilled chicken, turkey burger patty, these types of things). I get this pressure feeling and then become very nauseous. I have vomited, and this mucous/ white foam stuff comes up. Anyone else experience this? Why all of the sudden my sleeve is not liking any of these foods?

That sounds like "foamies" and happens when something gets "stuck" in your sleeve, causing a blockage. Is it possible you are eating too fast or aren't chewing enough?

I actually said to my husband,I wonder if some of my old eating fast habits are coming back and I'm not even noticing that I am doing it. I definitely have to be more aware and chew chew chew! I just haven't had this feeling/ vomiting until now. I would have thought it would have happened earlier on.

Earlier on, you have lots of other factors limiting the speed you can eat and the amount of chewing you do. You are right at the perfect stage where eating has become "easy" again and you might eat faster than you should without realizing it. Definitely try to be very conscious of eating slowly and chewing thoroughly for the next couple of days and see if it helps.

I only had foamies once, at this past Thanksgiving, and I was over a year post-op! So it can strike at any time if we aren't careful. I definitely just ate too much too fast that day and paid the price!

I also experienced this, especially with more solid foods. I found that the more solid the food, the smaller the portion I can handle. Also, pacing yourself(which is still something I struggle with) helps a lot. It also gives you time to recognize that "full" feeling before its too late. Good luck with everything, I know how awful it is. I vomited everything I ate for almost a week straight...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
