    Ladies I need your advice!

I agree with the Mirena. I had gotten my first Mirena at 18, went to have it replaced at the 5 year mark because I LOVED it, and it was a nightmare. They attempted insertion twice on two different days, each time over an hour of me in a pool of tears and in excruciating pain. I gave up and went on the "mini-pill"(no estrogen) because of high blood pressure and diabetes, and AFTER being sleeved, ended up having 2 strokes (at almost 6 months out from sleeve, not surgery related). I am 34 which also increases the risk of stroke on birth control pills. I went to a different Gyno's office and they agreed Mirena is the best option for me and convinced me to attempt it again. Success. I will only do Mirena from here on out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

  5. I am a type-1 diabetic on an insulin pump. My surgery was postponed twice, the first time because the surgeon rescheduled and the second because of my A1C (or vice versa, either way, it was postponed twice). My A1C was 9.something and the surgeon and endocrinologist wouldn't do surgery until it went down also. I was devastated. I had been on a seven months long diet (was supposed to be six, but the endocrinology department extended it a month). I ended up getting it to 8.something, but it was like 8.9, so still almost in the 9s. My endocrinologist agreed to go ahead and give his consent with much pleading and crying on my end. I also chose the sleeve as my surgeon had actually pushed for that over RNY. I am type-1 and will NEVER be cured with any current procedures, only type-2's can be reversed with surgery. Since the surgery, I have lost about 70 pounds. I started the pre-op diet at 251 and am now 178. It will happen for you. I know how you feel right now. I spent plenty of nights balling my eyes out thinking it was hopeless. I really buckled down the last 2 months of the diet and followed the dieticians recommended diet plan to a T. I asked the docs to do a A1C once a month after surgery was postponed, instead of the normal every 3 so that I could be approved sooner. It worked. I wish you all the best and hope all goes well! Ps...my diabetes is under much better control now, yet still not perfect. I'm a year out tomorrow and my last A1C was only 8.something(still trying to figure out insulin ratios is a pain for the docs).... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

  16. I did the reset because that is what my surgeon's office advised. I am a type-1 diabetic on an insulin pump which means two things: I will forever be diabetic, unlike type-2 diabetics who can have their diabetes reversed with bypass or VSG, and two, my treatment is going to be on a different path than most because of the pump. After a little over three weeks with no loss, the NUT and surgeon looked over my food diary and made that decision based on the fact that A:I should be losing at this point so early on and B:my body reacts differently because of the insulin being pumped in the way it does. I was just letting the person posting know that it IS frustrating to be stuck, although I agree that 4 days is too short to be considered a "stall". My surgeon suggested only being weighed at office visits to avoid the whole "I'm failing", "why aren't I losing enough?" situations. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  17. I stepped on the scale this morning after over 3 weeks at a stall and....I made it!!!! ONEDERLAND!!!! I CAN'T begin to explain how good it feels (well, I'm sure a lot of you reading can understand). For those of you still pre-op and wondering "am I making the right decision?", I can only say this is one of the best things I've EVER done. Not only am I more confident with the way I look, my health is better than it has been since I was a teenager. Every story/person is different but so far, mine is a success! 19. I am roughly 11 weeks out and have been in a "stall" for a little over 3 weeks. I have done the pouch reset, upped Protein and Water, and followed my NUT's suggestions to no avail. I fluctuate up and down around 1-3 pounds and have realized I am doing everything right (following plan, not cheating, exercising, etc...) and my body will "start up" again when it's ready, frustrating as it may be. Just keep sticking to your surgeon's plan and ask your NUT for advice. Good luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Dumping

I am roughly 11 weeks out and have experienced this as well. There doesn't seem to be one specific trigger(dairy, sweets, etc.); so far it's just been kind of random after-i-eat sort of thing. I was vomiting for the first two weeks after surgery and surgeon said some foods can just trigger a "dumping" effect. I guess my body is just picky sometimes, because I've tried eating things that have caused it before and sometimes I'm fine, others not so much. TMI warning: the other day I tried a Protein bar I ordered from the BariatricPal Store that I've never tried before for a "lunch on the run" and within an hour, I was RUNNING for the bathroom. D-I-S-R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find out what it means to me

Ebony and Ivory - Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder And I have to say, I have read a lot of rude comments and understand that it can be frustrating to see the same questions posted over and over and whatnot, but we are all here for similar reasons-support. It gets irritating when people bash instead of doing just that, supporting a fellow sleever/bypasser/bander/etc...We were all newbies or inexperienced with this site at one point and it can be confusing for some, especially if on a mobile site instead of the full site on a computer. I get the "tough-love", sometimes it's needed; I'm only speaking to the rude or downright nasty comments that some post. Rather than be an a$$, just keep scrolling as a previous poster had said.
