Newbie, Gastric Sleeve 1/12/16

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for the gastric sleeve next Tues. Jan 12th. I am getting a little nervous. Today I went grocery shopping to get food for my pre-op diet and this was the first time that I really had to read the food labels and pay close attention to my calorie, carb and Protein intake. This is definitely going to be life changing but I believe I am ready to make the change. I'm glad I found this forum to be able to express my feelings.

How exciting! So I'm guessing you had to do 2wks preop diet. I've notice most people had to do 2wks preop diet. I'm not sure why my doctor only ordered me to do 1wk. Well I wish you the best of luck! ????

Yep me too, it's so hard, but I know there's a better side of this. I've been there. I had the lap band for 2 yrs and lots 100+ and felt great. Long story , but I gained all back and now I'm having the sleeve surgery on the the 13th. I think it was easier s when I didn't know what to expect. Lol

Should have said I gad the band removed after 2 years

BTW, do yourself a favor and buy your first two weeks of post op stuff now. Try different Protein drinks (there are clear ones that will keep your energy level high). Better to get that in the pantry now, than wait.

If you are lucky enough to have the house to yourself, purge it of all the old crap and just throw it away. I put my daughter's favorites in her own pantry so I don't run across it.

That is good for you, that your not hungry. My head has been hurting for 2 days since I'm eating so little. I'm just so nervous / scared that I'm not making the right decision.

If you live near a Sonic, get yourself a bag of sonic ice for your freezer (or at least a couple of cups of it). They have the best crushed ice and it really helped me to stay hydrated the first week after surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
