Has this happened to anyone and is there a happy ending???

Yes this happened to me one week post op. Lasted for 11 days. Then..... It started to drop off. Remain calm, it'll happen. 3 months out now and down 65 pounds. It's a marathon , not a sprint.

It happens to EVERYONE. Yours just came a little early. Just keep doing what you're doing, and if the stall is going to drive you crazy then stay off the scale for a while.

I assure you, it's nothing you're doing wrong.

@@oliviatish I am so glad I just saw this! I had my surgery on 12/28/15 and lost 10 pounds in the first 5 days. Since 1/3/15 I haven't moved on the scale and was even up a bit this morning. I was so upset. I haven't consumed more than 750 calories a day (that is max, normal is 500) and have been doing everything the way I am supposed to. This helps me to know that someone else has stalled this quickly too. I am down 27 overall counting the post op liquid diet which started on 12/15/15. I was hoping that was part of why I have stalled but it is still super discouraging and confusing when you are only one week out. Thank you for posting!

I know it can be discouraging but you are still losing plenty of weight! When's the last time you dropped 27 lbs in a month? That's almost 1 lb a day!! Stalls are all over the place and for all different reasons. Did you have RNY? The body is still healing and adjusting to the significant Detour and construction it just underwent. The weight will drop off again because you seem to be doing all the right stuff! Go girl!

If the numbers on the scale are going to make you upset, anxious, or just plain crazy, please consider not weighing very often.

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all stall. Most of us experience our first stall about three weeks after surgery but that varies, too.

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as instructed. Exercise when cleared. And, stay off the scale.< /p>

Embrace the Stall!

Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words. I had the gastric sleeve done. And you are right, there is no way I could have ever lost 27 pounds that quickly any other way. I think I am just so excited to finally start my new life that I'm getting a little ahead of myself. I need to be patient and trust the process.

It is taking me being a month over to finally accept that it will come slowly; I am now losing about 1/2 lb per day, which otherwise I would have never lost. Once you start losing again, it will seem silly to have gotten so upset, but upsetting it is. I stalled for 2 whole weeks right after week one and after losing 15 lbs immediately; I was depressed needless to say, now I am steadily losing, and if I lose nothing one day, the next I will. My dr. said more than weight, look at how your clothes are fitting (try this after a month or so until swelling goes down). Now my pre-op pants are falling off and yesterday I was able to wear a suit I hadn't worn in over 7 years! Today I started exercising and hoping it accelerates the loss.

Good luck on your journey!

I was sleeved Dec 17 and stalled last week and still am. It is upsetting knowing you are only eating about 500 calories. However, thanks to the support on here we know this is part of this life long battle.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
