Does anyone have BCBS of Minnesota

I am new at all of this. I decided to have surgery in October so I contacted a surgeon for an appointment. I can't get in until January of 2016. So I decided to start the process to get a jump on my requirements for approved surgery. I've been on Adipex for 3 months with a doctor. And now I am on a PCP supervised medical weight diet. I am hoping I will have 5 months completed by the time I see the surgeon.

Did anyone have problems getting approved through BCBS of Minnesota?

I have their bariatric policy so I know what I have to do. I'm just so nervous about getting approved. I want this more than anything.

I have BCBS of MN. I had a 6 month process to go through and they denied me. We ended up paying out of pocket and didn't go through the appeals process. If you meet the requirements you should be just fine.

I don't know who you are going through as far as a surgeon but I highly recommend Dr. Jonathan Gipson out of Specialists in General Surgery. He was FANTASTIC and I wasn't just a number or another patient. He really took the time to get to know me and what I wanted and needed out of this surgery. His nurse is the best too! Liz is going to be a life long friend just because I worked so closely with her. Love them both!

I have BCBS of MN. Had no issues at all getting approved. I had six months of nutrition visits, two years of weight history. They submitted and a week or so later I was approved. Keep in mind you have to go to a Blue Distinction Center or they don't cover. Closest one to me was three hours away. So worth it.
