congrats!! Make sure you are comfortable with your doctor

I actually met with two different ones. The first one weighed me and was like oh yeah you need this surgery, you're past the point where diet or exercise will help you, you're going to die if we don't do this. He spoke to me for 5 minutes before he sent me to his nurse to schedule the surgery.

The second doctor I met with was amazing, she spoke to me for a while, we talked about my goals and what I could expect and made me very comfortable.

You won't be sorry, and it'll be worth all the pre op work. Best decision I ever made!

Hey there....just wanted to comment that fortunately I like my doctor, but I'm not fond of his staff. This is a life changing event so you would think they would be more compassionate.

Good luck with your surgery!

Congratulations! I had my first consult today and I was so nervous. I loved the surgeon who really took time to speak with me and remembered me from a seminar I had attended. The scheduler and the insurance liason also could not have been nicer. I walked out with a surgery date that works for me, all my surgical appts. scheduled and knowing what I need to do before my next appointment.

I know your consult will go just as well.

How exciting! My consult is scheduled for mid February. They said the appointment would take about 4 hours, I wonder what it consists of.

I just got my appointment for my first consultation too! 12/22/15...an early Christmas present. I'm am so nervous. I get anxiety talking about my weight, and avoid it at all costs. I guess that is why I'm in the place I am in now, lol. Good luck with your appointment..what an awesome way to start the new year!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
