For a few months after my surgery I was waiting for my progress to show. My friend had her surgery years before me and said it was going to come but I didn't believe her. She said give it three months for people to really notice your loss. I was like yeah right! She said I was going to skip sizes. I thought she was lying. She said give it time. I couldn't wait.

Well 6 months have come and gone and everything she said has happened!!! My only downfall is I still don't believe it. I still have the "Look" of fat where I had fat. It's just really small now. People don't recognize me. I think they are patronizing me but true/close friends tell me that they aren't. I really am so much smaller now!!! I'm so not done but really starting to enjoy this journey I'm on.

I went from a size 20 to a 12. 85lbs so far. 25 left!!post-253489-14493629780162_thumb.jpg post-253489-14493630207997_thumb.jpg post-253489-14493630350735_thumb.jpg

It is so refreshing to read your post. I see before and after pictures all the time and I marvel at the changes that people have made at 6 months out, 1 year out, 18 months, etc. I'm six weeks out today and I feel like a snail. I look at myself every day and see the same thing. I know I can't compare myself to others, but I do feel like you did in just waiting for my turn. Patience is definitely a virtue!

BTW, you look terrific!

By no means did I post for compliments!!! I very much thank you all. I just remember waiting and wondering if the surgery worked or if the doctor even did the right surgery on me. Looking at myself everyday and not "Seeing" a real change, I was down. I want those that are just beginning their journey to know their time is coming.

I ❤️ this post. Thank you for the reassurance. I'm still in the pre-op phase, but this is really helpful.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
