I'm Male, 32 yrs old and banded on 7/19

Recommended Posts

I just had my band placed on 7/19- and am now home from hospital. I live in Chicago and had my procedure done at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Everything is going good so far - i even mangaged to walk around 3 blocks this morning and then my wife and I took our 2 dogs to the dog park this afternnon and got much more exercise.

Other then stomach pains and HATING to have to sleep on my back - this is going better then expected.

I'm pretty much on liquids for the next 6 weeks- and i have to say - everytime I turn on the tv - there is commercial after commercial for Taco Bell, Wendy's , McDonalds, etc, etc, etc.

Driving me CRAZY!!!! How do you guys cope w/ these ads????

Anyways - i just wanted to intro myself and plan on being a long-term member of this forum.

Good Luck To All!!

Brad

Congratulations on your banding, Brad, and welcome to LBT! You asked on another thread about fills, and I was wondering how you could have come so far without having that explained to you. Or was it explained, and they just used different words?

Anyway, welcome and I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly.

I'll be banded on Monday. Don't know what time. I've never slept on my back so your comments on sleeping on your back are uncomfortable. I start on my side every night and no matter what I end up on my tummy...What happens to you or what were you told about sleeping on your stomach? By the way...Dito on those commercials. I've gone so far as to decide what my first meal is going to be: a veggie burger at Laughing Seed in Asheville. Are Beans a broblem?

Alexandra- i just got so much info so quick it was hard to remember every term. I thought it was just a tightening , so now i will remember "fill".

And to answer flacaJackie's other question - seems most Beans are tolerable- refried Beans (fat free) i saw are one of the ones.

Glad to hear it, Brad. You had me worried there for a moment.

You ask how we deal with the ads? I just turned the TV off. It really is amazing, isn't it? During my postop period I read a lot of books. :car:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
