Pre-op TMI Question for Ladies

Recommended Posts

I emailed the people and was told that it would be best not to be, I asked them why and got no straight answer? They've told me to take those tablets that delay the start of your period to stop me being on it when surgery comes around.

I can't imagine why they would say that. ..

A friend of mine is an anesthesiologist, she said that 1 in 4 women coming in for surgery will have their period. It's normal. It depends how strong you're feeling, but I'd definitely challenge them to explain what problems your period would cause.

I sent them an email asking and they didn't elaborate, but it seems very strange? I've ordered the pills anyway, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to take them if I can't eat/drink anything before surgery?

I had my period when I had my gallbladder removed.... Similar type of surgery.... They had me take my tampon out and just put pads under me they had no problems or concerns about me being on my period

Ugh!! Mine started 2 or 3 days early, I assume due to the stress. I checked in for my surgery, went to the bathroom, and there it was! The nurse told me that happens a lot. I just wore a pad, it wasn't a big deal at all. Bring baby wipes, in case you can't shower for a few days. I wasn't allowed to shower until my drainage tube was out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
