I have Health Alliance that is based out of Champaign IL. I know that Carle hospital out of Champaign does bothe gastric and the band. Health Alliance covers the gastric but not the band. Has anyone went up against Health Alliance on this or have any information that they would be willing to share? Thanks!

Health Alliance covers the lap band procedure. You have to go through a 6 month "I can change program" but as long as you meet all there criteria they approve! As this is the insurance that I have and my surgery date is scheduled for 4/22/10

Ginger, I am just beginning the process of exploring the possibility of Lapband. I see your surgery date was just a few days ago and I hope it went well for you!

I have an appointment with my GP in a few weeks. I am hoping he will enroll me in the 'I can change program' and it will get the ball rolling.
